D&D General how did we end up with the thousand types of Bruiser?

Why do they put so many different kinds of chocolate in an assorted box? I mean they are all small confections that you eat, basically the same. Nobody does anything unique with them, they just chew and swallow them.

Wouldn't it be better if the box just had one kind and was never made any other way for anyone?

So anyway...

Another reason for so many bruiser variants is because most monster bruisers are Large, but most designers recognize Large size as a pain in the butt to design PC abilities around and so have to make chibi-versions for PCs.
Do you see any reason on why to pick one above the others?
I'm sorry if you can't find a game that suits you, I truly am. However it's not the responsibility of the DM to cater to everyone at the table, much less everyone that could possibly join. If I tried to do exactly what 6 different people wanted, much less every individual that could possibly join my game, it would be a failure. Ultimately a DM has to be invested and excited about their game before they can get anyone else invested and excited about the game.

Wish I had a better answer.
it is fine man you get used to it, they do not even make races for my preferred class concepts hence my need to figure out why the options that get lots of support has large bland-ish guys as so common.

Just that I feel like each one brings their own particular feel. A minotaur has too much dignity to hang out in a shack and argue with squirrels while D&D ogres are big smell nasty dudes who may or may not be house trained, much less ready for Armani.

ah, I see you but that minotaur would just be pc in the making.

so I have been looking into making something more to my taste which takes time not that I could dm if my life depended on it.
Well, that puts you in a bit of a box; in that it seems you want to design a setting to suit your taste (which is great! go for it!) but in order to get any use out of that setting you want someone else to DM it (not so great) so you can play in it (also not so great as you'd have way more setting knowledge than any of the other players).

That said: Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Hobbits, Part-Elves, Part-Orcs and - I suppose - Gnomes. What more do you need?

You see Minotaurs way differently than I do! I see them as little more than reclusive brutes, smart enough to survive and (sometimes) prosper but that's about it. They wouldn't argue with the squirrels, they'd just see the squirrels as bite-size snacks and gobble 'em down.

Your Ogres, however, are pretty much spot on. :)

I came upon Minotaurs as a species from MtG and the Hurloon minotaur's, who are giant magic-science minded Klingons with horns. In one novel, they are trying to create a chemical/therapy cocktail to make goblins more intelligent/sociable. Then there are the Taraluum (sp), who are Proud Warrior Race guys.

In my campaign, Ogres are divided between one faction who are ignorant sociopath and proud of it (to the point they kill any family members who aren't) and big, soft spoken salt of the earth types who occasionally get corrupted by the big city and become goons and enforcers. Until one of them worked her way up to being crime boss with a small army of halfling toughs.

She uses halflings because she can concealed carry them.
