D&D General how did we end up with the thousand types of Bruiser?

Ah. I'd hit them long before M:tG was a thing; and M:tG's take on many creatures has been a bit - well, let's just say their take and mine differ fairly often. :)
MtG's take differs from world to world now that they've left Dominara even before that when the Invasion block ruined everything and we got the obnoxiously different Oddessy block.

Dragonlance minotaurs where known for their seafaring skills. I suspect under the influence of Voyage of the Dawn Treader. They had an empire consisting of a chain of islands.

But you seem to be looking for "race" to supply what what the player should bring to the table. Every individual is different. Not all Krynn Minotaurs are proud seafarers, each one is as unique as a human character. Our Eberron Bugbear was extremely vain about grooming his fur. Are all Eberron Bugbears vain about their fur? Hell if I know! This was a particular individual, that doesn't allow you to draw conclusions about the rest of their species.
I am looking at the general characterisation of a race so I can figure out what people like about them other than stats and how cool they look in art.

making an individual slightly memorable requires making them interesting in some part often by doing what others do not.
plus proper none state-based race construction tools do not exist, and given the UA direction, it is only going to get more difficult thus with proper understanding one can be made.

plus why things catch on is fascinating to me.

A "general characterisation of race" is pretty much the definition of racism. Would you expect a general characterisation of humans? What about Belgians? Are they all short, fat and pompous with outrageous moustaches?

Stats is plenty for some folk. Looking cool is plenty for others.

No. The women are, by and large, clean shaven.

is this a serious accusation or what as I am honestly lost because minotaurs do not exist nor do goliaths.

I'm sure it's not intentional, but it's a short step from applying "a general characterisation of race" from something that does not exist to something that does (like Belgians), which is why WotC has been moving away from making general characterisations.

If you consider minotaurs, a Krynn Minotaur is nothing like a Ravnica minotaur who is nothing like a Theros Minotaur. There is no "general" minotaur, they are defined only by their appearance and stat block.

okay then do you wish to explain the differences culturally between a Ravnican, Theros and Krynnish Minotaurs?

You just described my main!

Oh dear! If the shoe fits though... :p

To be fair the other 20% of people playing characters who look like that are generally reasonable grown-ups, and one suspects you fall into that category. I still get worried whenever I'm in a group and a character who looks like that appears though.
