How do 'good' characters do 'good' deeds in your campaign?

If someone asks you to help finding his lost XYZ. Then a good person wouldn't ask for a reward (money, items, gems,...) nor expect one (except a thank you, perhaps :) ). Neutral people do ask and evil try to blackmail more than the petitioner could give.

Well if you want just "basic" good, just don't do evil things and fight against evil even if there's a personal cost.

If you want a more "hardcore" good, start by the motto "the ends never justify the means". This will make fighting evil potentially MUCH more difficult, but that's what being exalted-good really means.

Playing a NG Cleric of Ganesha, remover of obstacles, right now. He does things like: heal limping commoners in the street, help people get from one place to another, stop what he is doing to help people repair a bridge, oh and kill evil things like goblins, drow, and assorted demonspawn. OTOH I had a Paladin in a past game who, while he would aid others and do nothing illegal or evil, was mainly focused on his order's quest to drive out a black dragon and its minions. Unless he needed to he basically ignored the minor injustices of day to day life to focus on his mission. As others have said, however, generally in RPGs "good" means "opposed to evil" more than anything else.

I wouldn't know. It hasn't come up yet. After three years.

Tonight's session is going to involve the PC's finishing off a little light ethnic cleansing at the behest of a corrupt politician, though it's partially 'for a good cause'.

Then there off to find a way into Hell --this should be easy for them-- so they can retrieve an artifact containing an angel's soul. And then either return it to its rightful owner thus averting a war, or keep it for themselves and simply relocate out the war's path...
