How do i get beat those epic level spellcraft DC's ???

To have a 16th level spell slot, you would need to take at least 6 feats, not to mention the metamagic feats required to fill it.

EDIT: Sort of. You take the feat once and gain a 10th level slot. You then gain bonus 10th level spells based upon your primary casting ability score. You don't have to keep taking the feat to gain multiple slots of the same level. You only need to take it again for a higher slot (and possibly gain even more spell slots due to your ability score). Sure, you'd have to take it 6 times, but it's worth it, depending on what direction you plan to take your caster in.

If you invision your caster hurling deity defeating spells, then epic level casting is the way to go. If you invision your caster of becoming a master of metamagic and the magic of mortals, then the higher slots are the way to go. Also, if you plan for your caster to become a master item creator, epic spellcasting is worthless, since you can't use epic spells to create magic items, but you can use a 16th (or higher) level spell to create an extraordinarily unique magic item.

You only need one feat to get some epic spells (that and a good load of spellcraft/knowledge:arcanca.)

Whats the point of all this?

See previous answer.

I don't really have much to add since kreynolds is right (and I am not really sure what we disagreed about ...) I would like to point out that I can't add. To get 16th level spell slots you need to spend 7 feats.

Apparently 9 + 6 != 16 :rolleyes:

As a side note, I wasn't aware high ability scores applied to the super high (read: 9+) spell slots. Although honestly, I don't see where I got that idea from.

Couple of things on epic level spells.
When creating a spell you can add mitigating factors to the spell to reduce the spell dc, some of which are taking damage, increasing the casting time, incresing the # of casters involved, or adding an xp price to the spell. THese combine help to lower DC's but end up takin a sever toll on the character, that's the tradeoff. Compare this to wish, every 20th mage may have it in his spell book, but the cost of using the spell (and the possibility of the GM twisting your wish) mitigate the usefullness of the spell).

Second Epic Spell Focus helps to bridge the gap some as far as DC's go.

Third Epic level spells count for DC's and such as 10th level spells, and yes they are more powerful than 9th lvl spells. However You can only cast a number of epic spells per day equal to you ranks in knowledge arcana or religion divide by 10 (for arcane and divine casters respectively). Thus you don't really "prepare" an epic spell from what i understand you can cast any epic spell you know a certain number of times a day.

Furthermore you need to get epic spell casting just to be able to cast or develop epic spells. To get higher level spell slots you need Improved spellcasting
