How do I protect myself from self-inflicted damage?

Invokers have a fair share of abilities that only target enemies.

Instead of using an ability that targets you, use one that can't. Then you might find yourself taking less damage from yourself.

Those abilities will still provoke OA's because a lot of them are ranged/area attacks. That's why this tactic doesn't make a lot of sense... I've got to think that either there's a better way (Fighter powers like Sweeping Blow, or MC Wizard for Thunderwave, etc) to do the multi-marking, or the players just aren't really doing it correctly and the OP is getting hit with those OA's.

Using a power that gives some benefit when you hurt yourself and then planning to use another power to stop that hurt from happening simply does not work in my game.

It's cheesy, so I'm invoking the bag'o'rats clause:

You say cheesy, I say clever character building.

Just had to say it:

Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!

Sorry, this thread has been tempting me for days.
