How do you get +34 in diplomacy as a level 9 PC?

Evangleist is in Complete Divine I think....
Bender is in Complete Arcane
And Courtier is in the Rokugan book (I think). Cool campaign setting btw. Rokugan and OA overlapish so I mix them up.

Edit: Oh yeah and In case you couldn't tell from the name, don't bother if you want to be combat effective...or magic effective. The courtier wishes he was effective as the bard in combat.

So with +40ish.....couldnt you do full round actions to switch hostiles to friendly?

To reliably switch hostiles to friendly, you need a roll of 35. Now it may be possible to have Skill Mastery, with the right class and level, allowing you to take 10 at any time.

That means you'd need a modifed bonus of +25. With the -10 for Full Round ACtion Diplomacy, you could indeed do this with a bonus of +35. Pretty cool.

Even better, if you can find a way to get them to talk for a minute, you can take "Hostile" all the way to "Helpful."

Assuming you can talk to them. Language barriers can be an issue.

A look at Epic rules reveals you can get Fanatic followers. No leadership feat required! Mind you, it does taka "50" to turn a "Helpful" person to "Fanatic," and a 150 to turn "Hostile" to "Fanatic."

Yeah, I believe that was me :heh: I posted the way above--+37 at 3rd without any spells or magic items. +40 with a simple Circlet of Persuasion.

Well i would love if you could email that to me because i cant find the thread and i so want to be able to do that. :p Im pretty sure my profile gives my email but just in case its

Keep in mind some of the limitations of Diplomacy. Just because a red dragon becomes Friendly does not mean he's going to give you his hoard. And a friendly orc horde may just invite you to join them in their plunder rather than agreeing to leave.

I'd say with friendly, they're willing to listen, willing to talk, and willing to make compromises... but that doesn't mean you've cast "Charm Person" on them.

Half-Elf Marshal1/Warlock1/Psion1(Telepath) With 18 Charisma and I believe 16 Int. Marshal gives Skill Focus for free, you get +2 for Half-Elf, you take the +2/+2 feat Negotiator and the feat from Races of Destiny that makes Synergy give +3 instead of +2, then you get 5 ranks each in Sense Motive, Bluff, and Knowledge Nobility and Royalty, plus 6 ranks in Diplomacy. Then get the Marshal aura that adds your Charisma bonus a second time to all Charisma skills, the Warlock invocation Beguiling Influence, and as your Psion bonus feat pick Psicrystal Affinity and pick up a Friendly Psicrystal.

There you have it ;)

Thats brilliant. Im curious, any DM out there would allow this?
I don't really see a problem with it. This is a combination only of abilities which I would allow in my game. All those other suggestions posted above about creating custom +a lot skill items or casting spells from Complete Divine that grant massive bonuses I would not allow. If you take this build, your character will be fairly worthless at everything except Diplomacy, but you'll be great at Diplomacy.

...maybe... but Diplomacy would have to be over-hauled... it's too dang free-form right now... So what that someone is friendly- what does that mean?

And there should be some sort of opposed roll/check.
