Never heard of anyone cooking steak in an oven, but then I mostly eat pub meals.

Pan sear + oven finish is pretty common in the restaurant industry, along with pan sear + sous vide, grilling and pan cooked. I don’t know that anyone does 100% oven cooking.

Interesting food video. 1 pound steak and chips. That's around $2.2 for us and $1.30 for Americans. I haven't seen any equivalent here a very cheap special would be double that and thers no equivalent. Or cheap lunchbox at a Chinese place for triple that

The latter meals hard to say value wise. Looks like enough to feed 3 people and similar to steak and chips from old-school pub. We would add a side portion off eggs, salad or veggies. My place its 250 gram steak, chips, salad or veggies deal for around $20 usd. With peppercorn sauce. Open steak sandwich is usually $15 usd give or take.

Food truck prices were similar to a pub meal here vs steakhouse. But more expensive but not excessively so and price varies here for cheap steak options.

Pepper steak from our favorite place. Extra peppercorn sauce for the fries.



Small wagyu steak about 250 grams. $20 usd approx. They knocked $4 off the price.

FiL meal I had the burger. Sauce got shared for dipping fries in.

Black and bleu. Horseradish and a spicy mango chutney if I can get it, or just a dish of balsamic or red wine vinegar to dip it in otherwise.

That's way better than ranch, for sure. (Seriously, Oklahoma: why are you so obsessed with putting salad dressing on everything?)

This must be a thing since I escaped. I do miss The Black Eyed Pea. Might not have been the best CFS, but It was consistent, never bad, and the gravy.....

I like my CFS dipped in spicy barbecue sauce, then topped with caramelized onions. But I'm a weirdo; just ask my family back home.
