How far have you gone in a base class?

What's the highest number of levels you have taken in a base class?

Humm, at this point, as a player, not counting pcs created at high levels, I think my highest is 9th level. As a dm, I have a single-classed fighter npc who has journeyed with the pcs since he was about 14th level or thereabouts; he is now 27th going on 28th.

Feat or skill limitations based upon needing to fufill entry requirements into a PrC (Skill Focus [underwater basketweaving]! ...Yay?.) A full-level single-classed spellcaster can take whatever feats he wants. And if a PrC is so powerful that it's a must-take, then I certainly don't want it in my game. I'm looking at you, Radiant Servant of Pelor. The cleric in question was a cleric 5/RSoP 5 when I brought it to my DM's attention that the PrC was stupid broken, so he agreed to allow me to retool the character as a simple cleric 10. The DM in me can't abide over-the-top brokenness.

Hmm, good point. And its not as if the Cleric is weak if you don't PrC.

The furthest I have played a base class character was a druid, who I took from 1st to 13th, bridging the transition from 3.0 to 3.5. It may just be a peculiarity of the class, as I don't see a reason in 3.0 or 3.5 to go PrC with a druid.

I voted 6-10. I've had a couple characters who would've gone all the way in the base class, but either they or the campaign didn't survive.

I voted 11-15, had a sorcerer make it to 14th level, but the game ended there.

It was also the higher level character I have played in the 3.x edition of the game. I fully intended to remain single-classed had the campaign continued.
