Finding gamers is easy enough. If you set bait in some way, they will come.

The challenge is more oriented towards finding people that want to play the game you want to play, the way you want to play it, on the days your available to play it, as often as you want to play, ad nauseum. So finding the "right" group is far more difficult depending on what you want. It's really easy to find some players if you say you're going to run some well known adventure. Most people in my area are not big on the role-playing part of the game, from what I've seen.
That describes my situation exactly. It's fairly easy to find players around here (Germany, Frankfurt area) but it can be incredibly difficult to find the right players for a certain game.

It's also very difficult to find DMs for some of the less common systems who're willing to DM somewhat regularly.

I voted difficult because it is hard to get some of my buddies to play anything but D&D. It is easy to get D&D players. Right now, there are 6 of us, including the DM, but we've been playing D&D about 90% of the time this year. I'm ready for a change, but it will probably be sometime next year and then more sparsely attended.

Regarding European posters: out of curiosity, are you native English speakers, or multilingual?
So far, I've played exclusively in German game groups, i.e. we're playing speaking German.
However, I prefer using English rule books, so I'm having a lot of fun with translating stuff back and forth... :)
