How has playing D&D improved the quality of your life?

(As usual, I read "D&D" as "rpgs")

Immense enjoyment. Many good friends. Meeting people not only in my general geographic district, but in my whole state, across the country, and even in other countries. Great stories, some of which I can actually tell to folks who don't play rpgs. New avenues for research for my brain. Introduction to many good writers and films.

Heck, rpgs is a lifestyle.

If it was not for dnd, i'd probably be in one of those irritating prog rock bands that keep releasing concept albums nobody really likes and talking about my "craft". I'd still be both pretentious and a bully, it gave me a way to empathise with and see value in "nerds" who have become the core of my adult friends. In short, I owe the person i am to one of the guys on the football team giving me something to read (the first two dragonlance novels) on an 8 hour busride and piquing my curiosity.
