When I DM again it will be 5e, I am reading through the 24 PH now and only about 110 pages in (gotten to rangers) so I have not seen all the rules like backgrounds and feats and such yet to evaluate whether I would adopt new stuff over 14 versions yet but I am liking the classes so far. I don't have plans to get the 24 DMG or MM.

I won't be DMing again for a while though and I expect my current non D&D online game I am playing in to go on for a while.

When a campaign ends, my group has a discussion about what they want to play next.

We are near the end of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. One of my players is then stepping up to run a palate cleanser to give some time to spin up the next thing.

There's a bunch of possible next things. Some are D&D, some aren't. If I were to guess odds, it might be... 25% a Humblewood D&D game run by one of my players, 25% some other D&D run by me, 50% some non-D&D system run by me.

When I run again it will probably be PF 1e or 2e. I've been using ChatGPT to help convert various 3.5 and even AD&D adventures to PF1e and/or 2e. This has saved me an immense amount of time and has really boosted the amount of available resources for use in a PF 1e or 2e game.

I will probably NEVER touch 5e or anything by WOTC moving forward not only because PF is my preferred game but because of WOTC's practices. Which kinda sucks because looking at who is working at WOTC on D&D there are more than a few former Paizo employees and freelancers there.

My IRL group will probably not be playing DND going forward since its not something we play now. But i am running a DND game online, and may continue to do so. I take online games one game at a time.

We are already playing D&D 3.5... But no new D&D games at the moment is planned.
We are also playing Dragonbane, I just ran a scenario for The Troubleshooters, and we have a couple of campaigns on hold: Scion 2e, Homebrewed PbtA-based Wuxia-campaign, Mage: The Awakening 2e, PAthfinder 2e...

I'm currently in a Dolmenwood game, so that's dropped off my "next to run" list.

My next 3 games being planned are a 20th level 5e game, a Shadow of the Demon Lord game, and a Break! game.

So, new Players Handbook, DMG and shortly the Monster Manual for 5e. Lots of alternatives for retroclones, variations and older editions. How likely are you to jump into D&D for your next game?

We are not going to play D&D
We will not be playing any type of D&D game (pathfinder, OSR, etc)

We will never play D&D ever.

We may try Cosmere, not sure yet... but that would be more for the Sanderson setting, not for the rules or system...

My group's next game will undoubtedly not be D&D, and that will have little if anything to do with 5e, 5.24, WotC, or any other recent development in the D&D-sphere. We are simply a multi-game-system group and not wedded to D&D and all it's direct kin.
Not sure if Shadowdark would be considered a retroclone or not. Same goes for DCC. Hmm.
If you're playing Shadowdark or DCC or Worlds Without Number or similar, it's certainly more D&D-tied than Runequest or Traveller or whatnot. I would suggest including (in polls like this) some term to capture things that aren't retroclones but also clearly in the D&D-adjacent territory of RPG-space. I use the term 'D&D-alikes,' but others have other ways of saying it.

So... I clicked Not Sure. The new 6e (don't give me that 5e2024 nonsense) is not on the table at all... but TBH I only went so hard into 5e because that's where the players were. If I could get a full table reliably with one of my other games, I would. And I don't mean one-shots. I wanna run the same thing every week for a year our more, build something. 5e has let me do that.

There isn’t an option for my situation: not currently playing D&D, someone in our group wants to try running the new D&D rules next.
