My monthly CyberPunk 2020 session is roughly 8 hours.
My monthly Werewolf session is roughly 5-6 hours.
My new D&D game is running every few days for 2-4 hours
My game gets started around 5:30 or 6pm, and typically comes to a close around 11pm (we've pushed later, but we game Thursdays so at least two of us have to worry about getting up the next morning).
I miss the days when we'd get together on a Saturday and game from 11am to 8pm or later. Too bad certain schedules don't permit this.
Thanks for the responses everyone. Our problem is that due to five different schedules imposing differing limits, our weekly game ends up starting around 7:30, and coming to an end around two hours later at about 9:30. Although we sometimes manage to play longer, than depends on more variables, and we get at most two hours of game time each week.
My primary rpg group is currently discussing our scheduling, and discussion elsewhere mentioning a weekly 7 hour session got me wondering what the average duration for a weekly rpg session might be across the EN World community?
My gaming group does not meet weekly. We have a gaming season, which starts in late October and runs through the end of May. We play every other Sunday during that time, from noon to 6:00pm. We take a short break in there for a late lunch/dinner time, usually around 3:00 or 4:00. What we eat is an entirely different thread, but I can tell you it's usually not pizza or burgers!
My group meets every other Saturday. We start at 1:30 p.m., break for dinner at 5 or 6 p.m. for an hour, and then go back to playing until 11 p.m. or midnight...on rare occasion, we go until 1 a.m.
We run weekly on Thursday nights via Fantasy Grounds usually from 7:00ish to 11:00ish. Sometimes later to finish up a fight or ealier if we hit a good stopping point.
