How long did it take to update the PHB last time?

Anyone know how long it took between the 3e launch PHB and when they released their first *updated* version (NOT 3.5)?

Why that is SUCH a great question (and you are a pretty awesome guy from what I've seen) that I have found you the answer (and if anyone wants to test their net-fu I dare you to find the reference):

It took 4 months last time. However "past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results", at least that's what my wife tells me. ;)

As far as I'm aware, there was never an 'updated' version; I don't know how much errata - if any - later printings might have included but I strongly suspect that answer is 'none'. The 3.5 Special Editions incorporated some errata, so they might be considered updated versions of the 3.5 set; there were no 'special edition' 3.0 books.

There was a revision in 3.0... I'm positive there were two printing runs. If you checked the dates on the info pages there was a second print at a later date which was supposed to include errata up to that point. I can't remember the dates though. As for 3.5, I think it was just he leather bound editions... If my 3.0 E stuff wasn't all packed away because we're moving in 4 days I'd look.

I'm pretty sure it was less then 12 months though.

Now that I think of it. They will probably just wait and put any revisions/errata into the special edition in Nov or Dec (I think) this year.

From what I recall having been written by other posters, the leather bound 3.5e books did not have errata in them - they were just leather bound.

No, they do have errata corrected.

There was definitely some updates to the 3.0 PHB. For instance my copy, which was a second printing, had diagrams from Dragon magazine further explaining AoO's and how they worked. I don't know for certain if any errata was incorporated to the PHB's but I think that there was.

I'm holding out on buying the 4E core rulebooks in the hope that WotC do something similar with 4E. There is going to be errata of some sort and I would prefer to have the later printings of the core rulebooks that incorporate some of that errata.

Of course WotC haven't said that future reprints will include errata. And it would be silly of them to do so since it would encourage people to buy the 4E core rulebooks later, instead of now.

Having said that I still hope that WotC include errata in later reprints.
