Now we play on wensday eveningss.. 8pm to about 11:30 pm

But 7-8 years ago, when everyone was still studying, we sometimes had a 'stay-awake'.
Ranging from about 1pm to 5-6pm on the next day. Most of these sessions i still remember... good old times.

I had to vote both <4 and 4-8 options because most of the time we play very much around 4 exactly :uhoh: I guess one third of the times it is less than 4 and two-thirds it is more.
Sometimes we play a whole saturday or sunday afternoon, but I don't think we ever lasted more than 8 hours.

A typical session for us runs from somewhere between 4:30 and 5:30 and lasts until between 11:30 and 1 a.m.

So I voted for both 4-8 hours and 8 hours +.

I run two campaigns and the more frequent running one features games that last about 31/2 - 4 hours. For the other campaign we generally play once every 6 - 8 weeks so when we can get together we tend to cram as much playing in as possible over the weekend. Usually this ends up being 4 -5 hours Friday night, 12+ hours on Saturday and 4 -5 hours on Sunday... then I need at least a week to recover :)

It would be interesting to see this cross referenced with how often people play. Those who get to play more often might play for less time per session, whereas those who don't get to play very often might play more. I wonder if that's the case. I know back in the day I used to play often and for very long periods of time, but nowadays I feel like I've got to keep going becuase it might be three weeks before I get to play again. If I got to play weekly, I wouldn't push the 8 hours as much...

Yes exactly. I actually voted in all three categories because our weekly game tends to be quite short (2-3 hours), but every now and then extends over the 4 hour mark. However, about once a month we set aside much of a weekend and get much longer sessions in. Mmmm, spicy variety.

The poll's choices don't fit my group well. I voted "under 4 hours" because while it's a 5-hour slot (1pm-6pm) what with late arrivals & early departures I'd say we typically get in just under 4 hours actual gaming, but it can go a bit over 4 hours too. Sometimes I do evening games that are also typically on the cusp of 4 hours or slightly shorter. My experience has been that in 3e that means major battleboard battles can take up pretty much the whole session.

Fortunately for me, I'm the manager of a pizza joint, thus giving me the keys to the building. So after business hours Saturday night is when me and my guys play. I mean, honestly, can anyone think of a better situation? Free building, no disturbances, all the food/cokes you can take...

We usually play from after hours (starting around midnight-1) until about 6-7am, giving us a little time to pack and clean up a bit before the Sunday morning crew starts arriving (at 8).

voted 1-8. In our normal weekly campaign games we play for 2-5 hours, depending on the DM and how much time we have. However, we sometimes meet for long games, the longest must have been about 7 hours. We have one today, we'll see how long that will go. I should have material to fill up to 8 hours.

I currently run two campaigns -- a weekly session that goes for 3-1/2 to 4+ hours, and another that meets about 10 times/year that usually goes 6-8 hours.
