It's interesting. Back in college, I used to be a fan of the longer the better. We would have epic gaming sessions that would go on for hours and hours, even close to days sometimes.

We used to do 24-hour sessions back in school. Hilarious. I fell asleep on the toilet once. Ah, good times.

We generally play for 4-6 hours. Mind you we usually have a meal in there, so actual play time is more like 2-5 hours. A lot depends on what kinds of mood the kids are in. Screaming kids really detract from gaming.

Normally we shoot for 4.5 hours every Sunday afternoon and average actually playing about half the Sundays a month.

So about 9-10 hours a month.

Our group tries to game every other Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Gaming doesn't actually start until around 12 most times. Add another hour out for eating and we have about 5 hours gaming. Of that 5 there is way too much bs-ing, so it actually comes out to about 4 hours of actual gaming.

Another interesting thing to cross-reference this poll with is how many people in the group are married and/or have children. With our first born on the way, I'm already feeling the pressure that gaming may have to be put on hold for awhile :\

Wow. 3 to 3 1/2 hours, on a weeknight, including pizza. Probably 2 1/2 hours of actual gaming. We play every week or two.

This makes me glad I play rules-light -- we have 5 minute combats, and get a ton done in a single session. I think I'd get pretty impatient if we had to squeeze hour-long combat scenes in there.

My group plays on Saturday and play from roughly 3:30 (pm) to 10:00 (pm). Every once in a while, we'll play to as late as 12 pm, when i really got them hooked! :)

Involved in all those hours of playing is a lot of of BSing, though, so its probably more like 5 or 6 hours of pure game time (sometimes less). I think if we had everyone was quite and only contributed when they were on stag and only stayed in character...well i would drop dead from a heart attack!

When I was younger we gamed for 8-12 hours, several times a week. Then it was cut to 8-12 hours just one day a week (often with the DM winging the whole session). Then the time started to get cut down a bit. Now we usually play for 5-7 hours, 1/week. Occasionally, we still go for 8-10 hours at a time, but that's rare.
