On topic: Beyond Monks has drinking rules that served me quite well.

I have a friend who can do this - our local term for this is "Frog sculling". It involes tilting your head back and relaxing your throat, so you more-or-less inhale the beer, rather than drink it in the traditional manner.

Drinking a small amount of beer quicky (such as finishing one during a bar fight) takes exactly as long as drinking the same amount of sparkling water.

So next session, get some soda water and time how long it takes everyone to finish.
