The Begining

I found Eric's Site right after (with in less than a month) they anounced 3e at GenCon in 99' with the t-shirts.

Don't remember when I started hanging around the boards, but fairly soon after Eric set them up. Don't post a lot, as what I was thinking gets said by someone else. Been a member of every incarnation since, and have ENWorld as my Home Page.

Since about December 2000/January 2001, I was around #2200 on the old boards.

I came here when I got fed up with the general flamewars, funkiness, and constant crashes of the WotC boards.

I think it was about OCtober 2000 that I first started posting under the name 'tyvansalvix'. I never posted much under that handle and just before Eric's site closed in August 2001 I switched to Holy Bovine. Then I posted more and actually managed to get my fiancee to join up too (she does by madriel, formerly Madriel's Mercy). She wanted to know what I was laughing at all the time - now I ask her what she's laughing at!!

well, from the summer of 1999 to 2000 I was working as a QA test intern at a software company and that was when I first started reading Eric Noah's news site. I started posting after he put up the boards. Looking at the black pages (seeing which reports I actually remember) this indicates that I started reading about September 1999. Maybe?

No that is not right....

I remember the move to RPGPlanet.
I remember Red and Black.
I remember gen II of the message boards, but before RPGplanet.
I remember WTO and not knowing about 3e.
Anyone know where that puts me?

I "joined the community" about 6 months before 3E came out. The reason I put that in quotes is becuase I wasn't actually posting anything at all until I started Dark Portal Games, which was in December 2000. Before then, I hit the newssite on a daily basis. I originally stumbled on Eric's site completely by accident, and then started hitting it daily because of the news.

I stopped lurking and joined up early last fall. Tyvansylvix, BTW, turned out to be a polymorphed wrack dragon spellcaster in our Scarred Lands campaign. He turned me into a newt...er, fish actually. The paladin and the monk ended up joining me in that bucket. Now that was a good use for the create water spell.

I started lurking on Eric's boards in early 2001 (February, perhaps...?), and I've been actively posting since August of 2001.

I don't know when I started posting, but I went through a period of pretty heavy participation for a few months, then the boards went down, or a server switched or something and suddenly I didn't recognize any of the names and lost the sense of community I felt there was.

And, of course, there still is a community here, I'm just not really a part of it any more.
