I clicked 10.... it'll be 10 years this October.

They'd just opened a hobby store in my town. It was often opened at night for Warhammer games and that kind of stuff. A friend invited me to go there a night and see him play Warhammer 40.000... but he didn't show up. who I found there was the shop owner (now one dear friend of mine) DMing a game.

I sat there. Thrilled. Watching them.

I talked the whole time, asking, suggesting. (The group are now all friends of mine, though we never played together, but that night I later learned they'd asked the DM "Get him out of the room. Or we will, and it won't be pretty.)

I went home and I COULD NOT SLEEP. I had to try. It was... it was EVERYTHING a game could be.

The DM started a new game for me and a couple more guys , in LOTR, a few days later.

Sorry for getting carried away, but it's... it's a fond memory. RPG brought me to meet almost all of my best friends, my wife (a friend of fellow players), and is a very important part of my life.

It's been 15 years since I first played D&D, it was a dragonlance game. None of the players had ever played D&D before and we were fumbling our way through Lord Soth's keep.

Ditto that - minus the keep ;)

15 years of D&D, 21 years of roleplaying.

29 years 5 months today. How's that for remembering? I ordered it for my birthday, and got it a few days before the actual day. Come September 10 it will 30 years even.

Well you should celebrate it - even longer ago than I first played.

I wonder if the 30+ year group includes ColPladoh?

I voted 13+ years, but its not in one block.

1977 - 1988 11 years
2003 - 2005 2 years

Yes, a 'born again' D&Der, but if it was years playing RPG then it'd add about another 6 years between 88 and 94 (mainly CoC and RQ2).

Playing seriously only since 3ed, and it's about 3 years and a half (I had the books for a while before we actually started).

Previously I played a few spared evenings here and there with earlier editions, but I don't count them as they were not serious enough and too much diluted in time, in the 90s.

I have been playing RPGS since 1991. 14 years. A friend of mine that I met in a group therapy session tuned me into the world of roleplaying. At the time we did not know that ADnD 2nd Edition was out, so we were playing first. I had a great time, but I yearned for a larger group. I had to beg my parents to get me a computer so that I could put out feelers for online and in-person games. I love DnD and I'll be playing it till the day I die. I don't care if I'm 94 years old and 9th Edition is out, I'll still play the game!

Blackjack! Actually, I think I busted, but just went over 21 by a couple of months.

There have been down times, and times when I played other games, especially Champions, but D&D was the first and now occupies a great deal of my time.
