I got a gift card to Powell's for my birthday in late April, and I used it to buy myself a copy of Fizban's Treasury of Dragons. So I'm in just under the 3 month mark. But I should explain the circumstances.

It was a rare treat for me, because I don't purchase hardcovers very often. Not since the pandemic started, and we moved to a purely online format for the foreseeable future. If there's a book that sparks my interest, and my players seem to share that interest, I'll pick up an electronic copy in the Roll20 marketplace and add it to our game's Compendium.

But every now and then, I'll get a gift card to Powell's or Amazon or somewhere, and I'll treat myself to an actual hardcopy book to fill out my collection. This is how I've acquired basically all of my 5E D&D books outside of the core rules.

Yeah, it looks at least consistent (if not more), with 4-5 hardcovers per year being pretty much the average except for the lean times between 2015-2017 or so.
Yeah, 2018 was when they had the confidence to spread their things a bit, and 2019 was a big year with the extra Starter Sets and all.

I don’t always keep up with the books as as soon as they come out. I’ll sometimes hold off to see what the reviews are, or wait for a price drop.

My last purchases were Fizban’s and Strixhaven, back in October.

Since then, I was gifted Monsters of the Multiverse (so, not a purchase).
I also bought two Kobold Press books and the updated Tal Dorei Campaign Setting (not official products).

I've been moving towards digital and away from physical. I have only played in a few 5E campaigns and was able to make due with the SRD and/or others hardcovers. I've been buying other games, but dont mind 5E. Just not invested in it.

Somehow, between my wife and me, we have 4 PHBs. And it looks like I need to get another one to stand-in for a holy book at our wedding reception next week.
I give them away about as fast as I can aquire them. I have a bunch of friends and acquaintances in TFA and such so if they see someone who is showing interest but lack the resources I send a package that has at least the PHB, PC sheets, dice, and what ever else I can find.

I swore off the adventures, but then bought the Neverdeep one just to see if a new team would offer something better. I’ve read about a third of the way but I can’t say it’s any better than average.

Has 5E even been around for 10+ years? Because if your question is about the last 5E hardback, the answer is "Never". If it's any D&D hardback, it's probably "Whenever the core rulebooks for 4E were released", which I assume is 10+ years ago.
4e released in 2008. 5e came out in 2014.

That said, I'm in the same boat.

I bought Wild Beyond the Witchlight on a whim the other week. I'll also get Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel in hardcover at some point (I've already preordered it on D&D Beyond, along with the Spelljammer set). Eventually I hope to get Strixhaven and Call of the Netherdeep, which are the only two existing books I haven't got yet.
