How long until D&D 3.7e?

With all the talk about D&D being a "living game" that "constantly evolves as it is played", I'm wondering how long it will be until the next edition come out based on "player feedback". I guessing we will hear about 3.7e in about a year and a half. (3.5e was anounced barely two years after 3e came out) Has D&D become the Windows of the gaming world? (Constant revisions and patches intended to "fix" minor bugs, while creating new ones)

I heard (rumor if you want to call it that), that the next edition is due in 2005.

I think it depends on how well the collectable miniatures do. Wizards is casting about for some way to turn D&D into a continuous revenue stream like Magic and Pokemon were/are, rather than the "buy a PHB and nothing else" method most of the gaming community buys by. If the miniatures take off, there won't be as much pressure to revise the system again to get people to buy another PHB.

I'm beta testing it now. It isn't bad and there are a lot of really cool ideas and concepts. Although I'm a little unclear why gnomes now have barbarian as a preferred class and I don't see why all summon spells need a special enchanted or "magic" card to be cast.

I hope that doesn't turn out to be true. That would be way too soon for my liking.

I'm hoping for at least another 5 years, and preferably 7 years - but I guess I don't get a vote, do I? :)

Of course you get a vote. One for each dollar. Spending is a vote for, not spending a vote against. So keep voting for your favorite products and companies.

I could care less, 3.5 was bought because all but 1% of the changes i had already made myself, so they can release all the versions they want, as long as none are Dungeons and Dragons ME "Millenium Edition"

then ill go on a multi-state rampage :D
