Probably not. They were the first D&D litterature I read back in the days (1980'), and they kind of stuck with me. Since then I've read "billions" of novels, many of them better written than the dragonlance series, but anyway, I still love em. I just can't help it...

I gave a half hearted try about ten years ago but, before page 20, I decided it wasn't worthy of reading it. I've never heard good reviews of it from people that are actually avid readers of fantasy literature.

Made me realise how few books I've bought over the years.

Something like 28 books in total, with 9 D20 and 14 D&D books in all. But as I first started in 1977 its not a lot.

Total gaming books are probably somewhere around 500. D20 books account for somewhere around 100, I'd guess. I'm scared to do an exact count. :D

EDIT - a quick count turned up almost exactly 600 rpg books, not counting Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

Help

Must buy more books! I have close to one thousand D&D books alone. That is not including my complete collection of Dungeon and Dragon magazines. At one time I tried to collect every book but with all the d20 publishers I have given up.

I have failed!

I voted between 60-100. Closer to 100 (I stopped counting when I got to 70).

When I started playing D&D around 1979-1980, all I could afford was some dice and an imagination. I was always jelous of my friends ability to buy everything that came out. Now that I'm older and have a job I buy pretty much whatever I can get my hands on (within reason ;) ). Besides I like the way they look on the shelf. :)

I count 22 hardcover so that's what I voted - but I'm not sure if that's all you mean by "books". And limiting it to only d20 books does not give a fair or accurate account of my shelf contents. When you add in softcovers and splatbooks it instantly jumps into the mid-30's. When you add in modules it gets into the 40's. When you add in non-d20 and non-D&D rpg's the only one I still have is WEG's d6-system Star Wars RPG - but I bought a LOT of that so it get's into the low 70's with hardcovers, splatbooks, modules... When you add in OLDER D&D material that's not d20 I still have four 1E hardcovers on the shelf (the basic three and UA) and a fair pile of adventures. All the 1E/2E additional rulebooks and sourcebooks and adventures I have in three file boxes. That material would easily get me near 200 and THAT doesn't count all the stuff I sold off a few years ago, doesn't count my complete Dragon Magazine collection, etc. a few boxed sets I'm still hanging onto, etc.

For d20 books, I have about 90. This doesn't count Dragon or Dungeon magazines.

Which is good, because that's not what he asked for.

Too many RPG books, I guess. I have over 50 d20 books, and some of those are bad. I don't know why so many people are in to getting them all. . . so few gems among the dross.

Well, yeah, it was - although it wasn't entirely clear. From the first post:

So I was wondering how many books you guys own (d20).

Luckily, many folks are gleefully taking the wider view. :)
