How many HP's for Armor

Do I really need to know how thick armor is to figure out its HP's? Thats the only referance to HP's/Hardness for armor that I can find.

In the combat section under Breaking and Entering you will find that armor has 5 hit points per point of armor bonus to AC. This is for Medium characters. This number is halved for each size smaller and doubled for each size larger.

These numbers may seem low, but;

1. Each actual enhancment "plus" adds 2 to hardness and 10 to HP. (A +2 heavy fortification has +4 hardness and +20 HP)

2. Armor can not be attacked with a sunder action. Continual damage, natural 1's on reflex saves, and certain monster abilities are amoung the few things that actually deal damage to armor.

Hey thanks!

In this case its a Black Pudding I'm worried about. I read it does x amount of damage to armor per round (unless reflex save) so needing to know how much the armor could take seemed important.

OH, If that reflex save is failed that armor is GONE. HP are bypassed. Envision why that happens so quickly as you want, I picture the ooze is exuding extra strong enzymes as an instinctive reflex on prey it is trying to squish as opposed to the slower contact based dissolve of prolonged contact.

Acid (Ex)
The creature secretes a digestive acid that dissolves organic material and metal quickly, but does not affect stone. Any melee hit or constrict attack deals acid damage, and the opponent’s armor and clothing dissolve and become useless immediately unless they succeed on DC 21 Reflex saves. A metal or wooden weapon that strikes a black pudding also dissolves immediately unless it succeeds on a DC 21 Reflex save. The save DCs are Constitution-based.

The pudding’s acidic touch deals 21 points of damage per round to wooden or metal objects, but the ooze must remain in contact with the object for 1 full round to deal this damage.

Hmmm, I see. I was thinking it was fail the save and the item takes the 21 points of damage.

So, fail the save and its gone. Make the save and its fine.

The 21 points of damage is for burning though metal walls and such?

Thanks for the input.
