Let's see...I put myself in 21-30:

d20 Modern
Exalted
Aberrant
Wheel of Time
D&D 3.0
Millenium's End
ST:TNG (LUG edition)
D&D 3.5
Star Wars d20 Revised
Stargate SG-1
Spycraft
AD&D Second Edition
AD&D First Edition
Hackmaster
Shadowrun 2e
Shadowrun 3e
Mechwarrior 3e
Werewolf 2nd Edition
Gurps 3eR
Deadlands: Hell on Earth
Earthdawn

are on my shelves. Waiting for a trip to the used bookstore...

Unknown Armies
Dangerous Journeys
In Nomine
Chivalry & Sorcery 3e

So, that's 21, plus another 4 that I'm divesting myself of. I can't count different settings as separate games, nor bits of games without their core rules; at which point it would skyrocket to another 11.

Lessee, I can see from where I am or know off the top of my head:

Basic D&D (and to nitpick at least one previous post, that was not the original version, which was totally different)
AD&D 1E & 2E
D&D 3 & 3.5 / Arcana Unearthed and a few other very D&Dish D20 fantasy games

(I could justify counting the above as anywhere from one to about seven; I choose to count them as three, divided up as above)

Plus:
BESM
Feng Shui
GURPS
Mythus
DC Heroes / Blood of Heroes (same system, different settings)
Aria (does it count if it's not playable? :p )
WEG Star Wars
D20 Star Wars
Star Frontiers
Earthdawn
Rolemaster
Harn

That's just off the top of my head or from looking around the room I'm in, and I'm sure there are more in my storage room, not to mention several that I only have in electronic form.

Two house moves ago I went through a stage of throwing out stuff, just keeping what I really wanted. Out went most AD&D 1e and 2e, D&D, Warhammer FRP 1e, C&S, probably some other stuff I can't remember.

Anyway, (stares sadly at shelves)

- D&D3e/3.5e (lotsa stuff)
- Traveller (CT, MT, TNE, T4, lots of 3rd party CT stuff)
- Traveller D20
- a Spanish edition of Classic Traveller
- 2300AD
- Space 1889 original edition
- Vampire, Mage
- Champions
- Rolemaster
- Spacemaster
- Fringeworthy
- FTL2448 (never played it)
- Ringworld (BRP)
- Cthulhu (BRP)
- Cthulhu D20
- Mutants and Masterminds
- Silver Age Sentinels
- D20 Modern
- Golden Heroes
- GURPS - tons of stuff including Traveller, GURPS WoD, lots of settings
- Runequest 2e and 3e + lots of Glorantha stuff
- Champions
- Star Hero
- Space Opera
- Aberrant
- Adventure D20
- Grim Tales
- 3 FFG minigames - Virtual, Grimm and Spellslinger
- various Poly minigames
- also a PDF, 4 colors to fantasy

Settings:
- Urban Arcana
- Arcana Unearthed + other books in that series
- Lots of Planescape
- Spelljammer
- Lots of FR, 2e and 3e
- Various scarred lands
- Two Kalamar books, not well liked
- Two Iron Kingdoms, v much liked, would buy more
- no Greyhawk apart from a freebie gazeteer I got

I'll stop before going onto other sourcebooks.

Lawrence Schick's Heroic Worlds in 1991 listed 250 different game systems. That was before WoD and d20, but after the introduction of GURPS, Rifts and the hero system.

I'm in the 51-100 bracket, but I'm counting only printed systems. If we include freebie net downloads and PDFs, it's a lot more :)

I wonder if an interesting corollary to this poll would be "how many systems have you actually played?" (or "how many systems do you own that you've never played?")

I'm somewhere between 40 and 50, I believe. That's separate RPGs, not editions or supplements or board games.

This question always divides people on what constitutes a distinct RPG. Limiting myself to systems only:

1) D&D 3e & 3.5e (Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk)
2) Legend of the Five rings 1st & 2nd ed.
3) Star Wars (WEG)
4) World of Darkness (Werewolf, Wraith, Vampire: Dark Ages, etc.)
5) Call of Cthulhu (Chaosium)
6) Nephilim
7) Castle Falkenstein

Call of Cthulhu and Nephilim use a similar system, but have enough differences to classify them as distinct, I believe. Choosing that path, however, one might say the same about the World of Darkness books. All depends on how you choose to break things down. Six (6) if you're strict, up to twenty (20) if you're including various settings, editions, etc.

Edit: I thought it might be interesting to mention how many of these I've actually played, both as DM and Player. The numbers were a bit depressing:

As DM: 3 [D&D, L5R, WoD (Werewolf and Vampire: The Dark Ages only)]
As Player: 2 [D&D and WoD (Vampire: The Dark Ages only)]

I've also been a DM for a Star Wars d20 game, but as it's basically the same system as D&D I didn't know if that counted or not.

I love the stuff in Call of Cthulhu and Nephilim, but most of the people I know are either turned off by the idea of their characters going insane and dying hideous deaths or they don't care for all the "occult" mumbo-jumbo. *sigh*

For the purpose of writing my response to the "how many monster books do you own?" poll I went to my RPG shelf and counted the RPGs. Eighteen! Not counting different edition os Vampire, ForeSight. and Hero System as different games. And I am by no means a collector.

I have a lot more, but I'll start having to open boxes, these are just off the top of my head and my game bookcase. I've been playing and collecting RPGs since 1975 so I do have way too many. I didn't bother including a lot of the D20 stuff or a lot of spin-off games I've got lurking around.
