How many Sneak attacks?

How about ranged sneak attacks?

Thanks all for your replies. They've been most helpful. I'm new to 3.5, but I did used to play 3.0. Now, another question, can there be multiple ranged sneak attacks in the same round? If so, how would that happen?

If you caught someone who was denied his dex bonus and you're at 30ft or less from him. (and you had more than one attack per round, via whatever, BAB, Rapid Shot, etc...)

Yes.

If your opponent is denied his Dex bonus to AC by any means... for example, if they are blinded, cowering, flatfooted, grappled, helpless, paralyzed, stunned or unconscious... and if he is within 30', you can take a full-attack action and sneak attack with all your ranged attacks.

Or if you're Blinking/invisible, hasted, have TWF, ITWF, GTWF, 1 Monk level for flurry and perhaps some fighter levels, you're easily at 8 or 9 sneak attacks.

Yeah, but remember that dangerous chanche of hitting the wrong target if your opponent is grappled!

further to that question

3.0 my dm rules that the extra attack on the opponant that was denied his dex given by combat expertise is NOT a sneak attack if I attacked out of the shadows.

eg I have HIPS i hit the opponant on my 1st attack from the shadow. after this point all my attacks are not sneak attacks (unless other qualifiers etc)

is this correct?

Correct, only the first attack is a sneak attack, after that they can see you and are aware of your attacks (unless they are flat footed). Flanking is really the way to go. Or imp. invis. Or, sneak up to your opponent, and throw a bag over there head and tie it on.

So, the question is, why is this such a recurring question, when the answer is always "there is no limit on the number of sneak attacks you can get."

It seems like people just find that hard to believe or something.

I realized recently that glitterdust is a rogue's best friend, when it's cast on his enemies: surely one of the poor schmucks in the AoE will fail the save, and then it's time for multiple ranged sneak attacks against said schmuck.

Great idea for my arcane trickster....

Daniel
