How much money have you spent on 3.x?

Just looking at the Wizards of the Coast stuff I'm over a couple grand. And I have to have four times that in third party material. And that's after slimming down the collection over the past couple years too.

And even with all of this money in 3.x I am looking forward to 4ed.

My collection totals up to somewhere around $3500, with third party stuff factored in.

And most of those books were purchased during the years that I was making about $7 an hour, 25 hours a week, paying $300 a month for rent. Just gotta know what your priorities are.

The choice between D&D and eating something besides Ramen came up frequently.

I spent at least a $1,000 on DnD since 3.0 came out. I also spent at least $1,000 on other game systems in that time period. It's my one weak point.

I am easily over the 1000 dollar mark. I am guessing about 3500 on books and maps and another 5000 on figures (metal, plastic, DDM and toys)


and yes- this has a MAJOR factor on my possible acceptance of 4.0.

Do you think the amount is at all related to your acceptance of 4.0?

I'm into it well above $1,000+. If I had to guess I'd say it's more like $2,500 or $3,000 but that's just a guess.

I'm looking forward to 4th edition and not looking back.

Well over $2,000 in books, and lord only knows how much in pdf's.

As for your 2nd question, the amount of 3E books I have bought is not related to my willingness to accept 4E. I buy new games ( not based on 3E / D20) all the time, and just spent another $80 this weekend on Dark Heresy and Rites of Spring for Changeling: The Lost. Now if 4E had been designed in a way that it complimented 3E, I would have been all over it as I love variant systems. But since 4E is a stand alone game, my acceptance of it is solely based on what I actually see and believe will improve my gaming enjoyment. Being published under the D&D banner doesn't cut it any slack in my book.

As of now, 4E hasn't shown me much that makes me say "WOW!". So there is very little reason for me to get excited about its arrival this summer.

I voted $1000+, which is why I will NOT be switching to 4E.

That and I don't see a need for a new edition...

Heck, I dropped $70 just Saturday on 3.x books.

I measure my gaming collection in linear feet of shelf space. After selling off most of my 2E stuff I'm "down" to around 60'... Most of the hardcovers are 3.x...
