How often do you game/How much is too much?

Geekus-Agreed, I think that once I move out I might get into that again, since RakeRon, Vechs, and myself are out of college. Now we've just gotta convince Angcuru to join us on the dark side.
I won't join, I'll just visit.:D

The group I'm currently in plays once a week usually about 6-8hrs per session. Due to school and thus, not seeing my wife as much, I'm probably going to take one Saturday a month off from gaming.

My previous group was once a week for 12-14 hours. Once I got married and changed jobs I wasn't able to do that.

As for how much is to much, I'll agree that in general, whenever it interferes with real life, it's too much. For me personally, I'm pretty happy with once a week.

I GM twice a week for the same group, two seperate campaigns.

I occasionally play Living Greyhawk once a month, although that has dwindled into nothingness lately.

Being in the same group as you, I agree. There are now three out of five of us attending college right now. Taking the last weekend off would be a good thing me thinks!

Many people mention that you game too much when it "interferes with real life", but since RPGs is such a big part of me, I don't mind it interferring with family, friends and so forth, because for me it's just that important.

Luckily, my girlfriend through 6 years is a gamer as well, but I just can't see myself NOT gaming to spend time with other friends and so forth. Why not do the things you like the most whenever possible?

That said, I usually game 3-4 times in a two week period, 2 of the sessions being 5-6 hours and the third being 10+ hours. If we manage a forth game in two weeks, it's also a 5-6 hour game.

The group I played with last year liked to play from noon to midnight almost every Saturday. All of them were in their 30's, and two had wife and baby. Well, noon to midnight was ideal. If we started later, like at 2:00, then normally we stopped between 1:00 and 2:00.

Yes, I'm serious. I stuck out that campaign and then I quit - 12 hours of sitting after a week of a desk job just wasn't healthy. (Not to mention that I didn't really like the main DM or his style.) They looked at me with blank incomprehension when I said I couldn't play any more because it took up too much time.

One 5-6 hour session a week is ideal for me.

I run two games. Each meets three times a month for sessions of 3-4 hours each. One group has 6 players, the other 4 with two people other than me in both.

Sunday's 10-14 hours straight.

Somewhere midweek another session (same game) for about 5 hours.

PArty is 5 peeps big, I GM. Been going for this like the last 4-5 years.

Well one or two sessions a week for about 8 or so hours a session, with Pnp games, then of course we all also play on-line. how much is too much? when it interferes with your ability to pay the rent, as long as you have the basic necessity of life the rest of your time should be spent gaming or preparing for a game :0
