How to deal with Sleeping Characters - Need info ASAP - Game tonight

Everyone thanks for the ideas.

I went ahead and did the check at -10 (pre rolled so I don't have the party waiting for me to roll or them rolling a bunch of check for no reason)

BTW - the bad guys are not interested in attacking the party. They just need to get the bags because they have some items the bad guys are looking for, then they will slip out of town.

Looks like depending on how things go, the bad guys will still wake up a few party members. (from above rolls)

Opposed checks

Bad guys move silently, party listen.

Listen -5 circumstance to start.


Every 1/2 movement or MEA that the NPCs make is another round of checks.

If a listen beats the lowest move silently by 1 - 5 the character is now light sleeping and does not suffer the -5 penalty for 1 minute. If a listen check beats the lowest move silently check by +6 the character wakes up.

A character that just woke up is stunned for 1 round.

Don't forget that they are also prone.

Yelling will wake up the other PCs at the begining of the next round. Everyone rolls initiative when they wake up.

(Just did this two weeks ago, ran it like this and the PCs felt it was very fair.)
