How to make a Psionic Archer

+5 Flame Frost shock Acid Sonic Mighty (+4) Composite Longbow: *DUH*

You only need (and can afford) +1 arrows. Use secondary disciplines from If Thoughts Could Kill (www.montecook.com) and take Greater Metaphysical Weapon from the Mind's Eye. Good, now for a cost of 26 power points, they're all +5 weapons for most of the day. Slap on an Extend Power if you need to.

If you use a halfling, you get a +1 size bonus to AC. Use a sling... slightly less damage, but you get another +1 bonus. Get a +1 impact sling and +1 charged bullets :D

Summon Weapontry is good, as well. First level, psycoportive, scales(!?!?) with level. Also don't forget schisim. Lets you manefest powers and shoot at the same time. And of course Enlarge Power, given how this template works at a distance so well...

Also, the benifit to being a psy warrior is anything you can do with a bow, he can do a bit better. The extra BAB is still usefull for an extra attack, after all.

Ok, dumb question, but the char you mentioned is definately int he realm of "dream char". My example would use gear only available in the wotc books, and would also be within his "gold at level" limit.

Given that a PsyWar gets Use Magic Device and Use Psionic Device I don't see how the psion would take him down with arrows. The higher BAB and HP reduce the chance that a wizard is going to torch you.

Figure in that the higher BAB at 20th level provides and extra attack and the Improved Critical with the Keen arrows will increase your threat range to 18-20 makes you a tad more dangerous.

With Fell shot, BAB is only useful for extra attacks. Which you want.

Also given that all those effects require activation (see other thread sont his topic for more info on this), each arrow will take you 5 rounds to activate. Damage output is greatly reduced by this limitation.

I will sit down and do the math for a char at 20th with "appropriate" money and gear and list a psywar(may be a day or two).

Each class has their own advantages.

The psychic warrior is tougher, has a better attack bonus, and has one extra attack. And the bonus feats (Rapid Shot!) don't hurt.

The nomad can manifest really cool powers, gets them faster, and has more power points to use on Fell Shot.

110 Pale Grey Ioun Stones

I'll assume you mean Dull grey ioun stones?

...?

110!!!!!! Why the hell do you want 110 small useless grey rocks floating 1d3 feet from your head? :)

Cover? ...maybe (and only) for your targets? <I wish I had kreynolds Blinking guy>

????????

Please explain.

Dull gray Ioun Stones can be used to provide 1PP. Doing this destroys the Ioun Stone. So effectively he has 110 one shot 1pp capacitors. I I am not mistaken, you can only use 1 per power so he has a -1PP cost to each power he manifests. Add this with a Torc and he has pretty cheap (PP wise at least) powers.

D'OH!:o

oops I knew that, just didn't think about it. It's been a while since I've played a Psi-PC. Thanks for the kick in the A$$ :) Arnix

I had this pic in my head of this poor PC walking around with an asteroid field orbiting his head, walking into walls, triping over stuff, his foes having 90% cover. It's kinda funny, well in my mind it is. :( :D

Yeah, as a DM I would have to limit the number of Ioun Stones a char could use. By the rules its limitless, but at some point you are blocking out the sun. I guess it would be sort of like have a permanent darkness spell on you.

How does a vampire travel during the day? A cloud of Ioun Stones.

PIETT: The Emperor commands you make contact with him.

VADER: Move the ship out of the asteroid field so that we can send a
clear transmission.

PIETT: Yes, my lord.
