The dictionary is usually based on usage, so you can generally be certain that even if you’ve never heard the dictionary pronunciation, other people very much have.

I can't wait until the dictionary goes the Youtuber route and just starts mispronouncing things just so people will comment on it. Engagement!

(I'm really asking about where you place the stress, not whether your "ti" is a tih or a tuh.)

AHR-tuh-FISS-uhr - as has been said, like "artifice" with an R on the end...but because that R adds an extra syllable, the third syllable is naturally given more emphasis than the unemphasized "schwa" sounds surrounding it.

It's funny. I would pronounce "artifice" differently than you do there as well. It would match my pronunciation of artificer.
