Came in to say "Throatwarbler Mangrove".Dang, I missed my chance for a "Throatwarbler Mangrove" joke.
I can't wait until the dictionary goes the Youtuber route and just starts mispronouncing things just so people will comment on it. Engagement! The dictionary is usually based on usage, so you can generally be certain that even if you’ve never heard the dictionary pronunciation, other people very much have.
art-uh-fi-serEvery D&D video I hear pronounces this word wrong. I'm sure of it.
(I'm really asking about where you place the stress, not whether your "ti" is a tih or a tuh.)
It's funny. I would pronounce "artifice" differently than you do there as well. It would match my pronunciation of artificer.AHR-tuh-FISS-uhr - as has been said, like "artifice" with an R on the end...but because that R adds an extra syllable, the third syllable is naturally given more emphasis than the unemphasized "schwa" sounds surrounding it.
Wait, so do you pronounce artifice sound like “art if ice”?"ARR-ti-FIGH-sir"
Or translated into el-remmenese, "Not in my game"![]()
