How will the WOTC PDF decision affect the Old School Renaissance?

I've got it.

Plus the Expansion.

Got the Dragon Magazine CD ROMs, too, not to mention the FR Atlas.

:D

I actually bought that a long time ago and still have it (one of the old items I havne't got rid of recently, sigh, ran out of room, so just keeping best bits of my collection, tempted to post a pic of it and my remaining collection which was once extremely extensive, getting rid of Queen of the Spiders etc sucked!!. I even managed to track down the Spelljammer PC game, in original box, on Ebay *squirms in lascivious delight!* muhaha!),

but I haven't tried to install/use Core Rules in ages! Wasn't their patches for it? (if so, have I got 'em in me back ups I wonder?)

But the 4th ed character creator is really nice to use, E-Tools, despite Code Moneky's work, was a pain (making 3rd ed characters, in general was too complex anyway for my tastes), and E-Tools UI was not very pretty at all :/
"Pretty" is important, easy on the eyes = very importan ton any app you use a lot!
Man was I angry at having bought all of Code Moneky's stuff and then,...they got ganked, grrrrr!!!

need to dig out my Dragon 200 issues too, never installed it, kept it all safe and sound, my precioussssss...

The Core Rules Patches are still available on the WotC site, better download 'em fast as they may be the next plug pulled.

You can get the patches for the FR Interactive Atlas and the missing inserts from several Dragon MAgazine PDFs there, too.

BTW, it was the first 250 issues of Dragon amagazine.

I had been wanting to buy the DA modules for a while but was just recently able to fit them into my budget. Then they disappeared before I could buy them. :(
I feel for you, man. I considered getting a couple of the B modules as PDFs. I really want Rahasia and Night's Dark Terror as well as Horror on the Hill. Now, I'm going to have to hope that one of the local used book stores here in Edmonton gets them. B1-9 is still available at WK but I don't want to buy that one just to have a full version of Rahasia. :-S

I have that and you'd have to beat me senseless to pry it out of my hands. I have the expansion CD too.

The best part about the Core Rules 2 CD is the RTF files included with it of the various 2e core books and complete books.

The biggest single casualty as I see it doesn't affect retro-clone/homage publishers so much as would-be players.

And that casualty is Rules Cyclopedia. On many circles I run it, it's the one old edition book every seems to respect, and I heard of lots of people buying it to scratch that old school itch.
Yeah, I was considering (somewhat) getting a PDF version of that book from RPGNow. Now, who knows how long I'll have to wait in order to find a copy (plus Wrath of the Immortals)!

Hm, just the Complete Necromancer book patch there, wasn't there more of a bug fix one? Too many years ago for me to remember :D

I had a chance to buy the Atlas but didn't, Moron Am I ! hehe!
I bought Campaign Cartographer 2 and then 3, but...it is too much of a pain to use IMHO (the FR maps were in that format. IIRC?) , but back then I didn't know how to use 2D art programs to make good looking maps, and the advantage CC has is it's "vector" art, you can zoom in infintely, or out, so one map can contain almost infinite detail (back then, though, memory limits were a real problem for big images and massive maps).

One reason I bought the Dragon mag archive was for art, I adored the covers and some of the internal art. Having to get rid of my dragon mag collection too, bit by bit, no room left *sigh*
(anyone in UK who can come get 'em is welcome to them, free! :) )
Brom's Belgoi enchanter cover for a Dark Sun issue, the 200th issue and some others are amazing.

There's a freeware one on Dragonsfoot; there's one put out by SSI (and a monster/encounter builder, too) that are abandonware.

Thats good to know-I might check it out for personal amusement. Its actually pretty funny to me because one of the reasons I like old school systems so much is that I never needed software for them.
