How would you stat out a Growler Bull?

Gospog

First Post
So, in an old (defunct) miniatures game called "VOR", there were these huge beasts called Growlers.

They were kind of ape-like, and monstrous.

A link to a painted mini of a Growler Bull (not my paint job, an EXCELLENT job, btw) can be found here:

So, my question is: how would you stat this thing out? I thought about taking a gorlila and adding some templates like "bloodthirsty" or "infernal" but I'm not sure if that would cut it.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Mods: If this belongs in another Forum, please move it. I didn't think it belonged in "Rules" because it's not about a character or an actual D20/D&D rule.

Thanks.

There are creature catolog forums for monster making, though the traffic is somewhat low over there.

Convert a dire ape to magical beast.

Ape and dire ape are 2 of the better builds for beat down bipedal critters.

I use them all the bloody time when i have to "stat a fig" i want to use or when i need a monster to fill in a blank spot. In the second 3e dungeon I ever ran, I drumed up a "feral gnoll" using the Ape stats & made a Greater gnoll based off the minotaur stat block as the boss for that dungeon. it worked like a charm and i still use them to this day.

Now if you want more exacting stats, here:
Base Growler
Large magical beast
Hit Dice: 5d10+13 (47 HP]

Advancement: 6–15 HD (Large)
A growler stands about 9 feet tall and weighs from 800 to 1,200 pounds.
Combat
Growlers attack anything that enters their territory, even other growlers. If an opponent’s armor foils a growler’s attacks, the creature will attempt to grapple and pin, then rend the prone opponent.
Ferocity (Ex): A growler is such a tenacious combatant that it continues to fight without penalty even while disabled or dying.
Rend (Ex): A growler that hits with both claw attacks latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an extra 2d6+12 points of damage.
Skills: Growlers have a +8 racial bonus on Climb and jump checks and can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. Will saves are a good racial save due to pack hivemind.
