HQ: The 'Ready Lounge'

Gus looks a little doubtfully at Maddy. Even though he is nocturnally indestructible, it had never occurred to him that people might think of this as a license to insult.

Still, actions speak louder than words. The bossy little girl obviously has good intentions, or else she wouldn't be in the Resolutes.

"Yes, is very brave. Sergeant is fragile creature, but risks all to protect fellows. I am having respect."

"Is pretty color, purple." he adds with a smile. "Two shining girls... I am keeping good company, here."

Sergeant put the newspaper on his knee and listen to teh others. "Suck to be me? Fragile? Bah! Sure, I don't have your power, thanks god, but I have an edge you don't have. Experience. I know human nature more than you. I've been aresting criminal since the start of the 70s. I've seen all type of criminals, and that include some Supers. I'm still there and they are in prison. And the other thing, it is that I have lead SWAT team for over a decade. You are all green who has no idea of the power you are handling and who have barely see a criminal in there life. That's why I am here, to make sure you get teh best of your powers.

Honestly, I think my biggest problem, it isn't the criminals I try to arrest. Between a man who carry an AK-47 and a guy who can shoot ray from his eyes, there is a small difference. It is more the team of green which I work with who has no idea of what the job they need to do is. It is why I am here, to make sure you don't make mistakes. And I don't mean any offence in that, it's just that, experience is just not innate."
Sergeant takes his glass of whiskey and takes a sip before turning the page of his newspaper.

Finally joining the conversation after sitting and watching for a long while, Paladin replies to Sergent, "What you say of experience is true my friend. Just remember thou art not the only one here with years of experience leading men against the evils of the world. Too many wars have I seen, too much blood spilled for petty reasons. In the end, we all must face and confront the challenges before us and attempt to survive and become stronger and remain better than those we fought against."

"Maddy, forgive my rudeness of not introducing myself earlier. I was lost in thought it seems. My name here is Paladin, though you may call me Arthur instead if you wish."

"True, but yours seems a bit outdated... but with what I saw against Relic, it doesn't mean it won't be usefull, even more if we are drag back to the medieval world but some foolish SUpers like Relic." tells Sergeant before taking another sip of his whiskey.

Gus looks chastened. "Apologies, Sergeant. Fragile is relative term, was meaning no offense."

"Am merely saying: it is courage, to take the job you have with so little protection. I am old, in waking terms, but dreaming... is different kind of time. Am sure, will be grateful for your teaching."

"I don't denied anyone experience. What I mean, it is my experience is the nearest of what the Resolute have been made for, or at least the main reason it has been created: control roguish Supers. As Supers are new to our world, no one have a lot of experience, but I have been figthing crime in the last 30 years, I have been leader of a swat team before I became investigator. Finding and arresting dangerous criminals have been all my life. And as I told, there is little difference between a guy that shoot fire from his mouth and a man with a pistol. Both can kill."

As Paladin introduces himself, Maddy merely stares, eyes wide. Finally, she mutters under her breath, "Okay. Either you're the biggest Renaissance Faire fan alive, or the Resolutes don't bother with the whole psych evaluation thing. And as I haven't gotten one yet, I know where I'm leaning..."

After listening to the Sergeant explain his value, a smile comes over her face, especially after the bit about the fire-breather and the man with the pistole.. "Yeah, except the man who shoots fire out of his mouth can't be disarmed, has no need to reload, and might be capable of unleashing more damage than a standard firearm." She chuckles. "Aside from that they're a total match. Uncanny really."

"Those one are aminority. Do you think all mutants hold an atomic bomb in there figertip. Some are very week mutants that can only breath under water, or some wizard who can barely light a cigare. And you have the people in the middle. And I've never been alone. A SWAT team for the weak and average, and a Resolute team for the biggy." tells Sergeant, detailling his thought.

"De'ron Conrad, Echo" a heavilly Jamacian accented voice comes over the speaker. The door opens for a dark skinned young man with dreadlocks in a green and yellow Resolutes uniform.

"Hello" he says with a small wave to those gathered.

Maddy rolls her eyes. "When did I say anything about an atomic bomb, Sgt. Carter? I just suggested your hypothetical fire-breather's a bit more of a threat than you seem to think he is." She shrugs. "The game's changed. The old rules and the old methods aren't going to work like they used to. Look at me--I can take a direct hit from a rocket launcher without flinching. Are you telling me a SWAT team stands a chance against me? And I'm not even that powerful a super." She sighs. "As for your water-breathers and cigar lighters--those guys aren't the ones going into crime. It's the guys with laser beam eyes and the ability to rip through concrete that put on stupid costume and try to rob banks." She waves at Echo as he enters. "Hey. Maddy Glass. Nice to meet you."
