"But am being rude," Gus says, realizing his omission, "I am Gustav Makesbabiescry, or just Gus, depending on preference. For purpose of heroing, I am Mister Scares."

Marie smiled at Maddie's responce and waved a return greeting at Nimbus.

Marie stared warily at Gus before offering a hand in greeting. "Hi. Dont take this the wrong way but, uh...what are you? I'd guess you're a spirit of some sort, but I dont think I've seen one like you before."

Maddy chuckles. "Oh, he's a 'Boogeyman'." She points to Paladin. "And he's a knight from ancient times." And finally, she points to O'Connor. "And he's a perfectly normal person. Except that he's decided to do this job, so clearly, sanity is an issue."

"Ron Conrad" the jamacian boy says in greeting giving Gus another look, "No offense, mon, but ya might want to be changing your last name 'Makesbabiescry' is something sinister sounding."

Gus laughs, and whatever is true about his face, his laugh is warm and genuine as he takes Maria's hand. For the tiniest moment, his orange eyes turn brown and disapproving-- her mother's eyes-- but Gus blinks, and the moment is gone.

"Maddy does not believe, but is right anyway. I am reformed Boogeyman... former frightener of children, character actor in nightmares, hounder of guilty consciences. That sort of thing."

Gus reflexively starts to switch to Ron's native tongue, but pauses as he realizes there is no wrong answer to the question of which language Ron speaks.

"Sinister? Yes, is right. Am sinister in nature, if not in fact. Would be unfair not to warn with my name. Besides, is good name from Old Country."

Gus looks at Ron slyly.

"You are speaker of languages, yes?"

Marie grimaced a bit as Gus' eyes changed colors. "Well, uh, yeah. I got that part, and dont do that thing with the eyes, please, it's creepy. But what are boogeymen? Are you spirits? Some wierd mutant thing? What? I mean, I know I'm a bit wierd myself, I can talk to doors, but you? Something all together different.

A thickly russian accented voice comes through the intercom at the door.

"Gauntlet."

The door opens and the massive russian enters the room...

For those unfamiliar with the man, Gauntlet resembles nothing less than a living piece of construction equipment. The most striking feature of the man is his arms. Where there would normaly be large, muscular limbs there are instead huge, noisy, metallic pieces of machinery, painted yellow to more closly match the construction equipment they so closely mimic. While vaguely resembling human limbs in basic shape, it is clear that these colossal arms were designed for fighting and heavy lifting. They click, whir, and grind softly as Gauntlet moves. His body is heavily muscled, clearly visible through the Resolute uniform tank-top he wears. His shoulder-length hair has a natural curl to it, kept in check by currently being pulled back into a tight ponytail. His features are square and hard looking, and he currently appears slightly annoyed.

Gauntlet is carrying a large metal box marked "DANGER: LIVE AMMUNITION" under one arm, and a big tool-box in the other. He grumbles something under his breath as he moves towards a sturdy chair and table. Spotting Echo in the room he tosses him a knowing nod, but says little else as he sits down.

Quickly going to work, Gauntlet opens both the crate and the toolbox. Withdrawing a pair of pliers with his right hand he moves it to his left forearm, which he is currently resting on the table. Seemingly on reflex, a not-so-obvious port clanks open, revealing a large caliber gun mounted within. Gauntlet begins working methodically, removing rounds from within the gun and his arm and replacing them with slightly different-looking rounds from the crate in front of him. He repeats this process for his right arm as well, taking some time to do so. While working he mutters something about "bulletproof robots...".

(((ooc: he's not intentionally ignoring anyone... just focused and didnt notice anyone but Echo, whom he's worked with)))

"I only speak english. Ron says a bit uncomfortably, "Anything else is just an echo, lasting only as long as there is something to reflect back."

He gives Gauntlet a wave as the big man enters the room.

Gauntlet blinks and looks up from his work. He turns his head towards Maddy and gives her a friendly but slightly sarcastic smile.

"Depends. You are planning on for buying me present?"

With that he chuckles softly and quickly finishes reloading his two concealed machineguns. As the ports close there is a somewhat muted clicking and clanking from within his large metal arms. One could guess that the guns were going through some sort of load-cycle.

Gauntlet stands and moves over to the others who are talking.

"Echo, you have made new friends, da? Who is girl here who is buying Gauntlet present?" Gauntlet folds his arms and smiles down at Maddy.
