HQ: The 'Ready Lounge'

She looks at the sword, raising her eyebrows. Somehow, she doubted he'd be nothing without the sword and armor.

"Excaliber, huh? Doesn't that mean you're chosen, or something? Things like that," she points at the sword, "don't just happen to someone by accident. Just like mutations aren't just an accident of genes, like people say. We were meant to have them. So you wouldn;t be nothing without it. You'd just be... disarmed."

"Perhaps you are right...but as of yet I do not truly know what would happen.", Paladin says quietly as his eyes shift down towards the floor...

"As for it being no accident, you are correct. I would still be resting in Avalon I suppose, if Merlin had not brought me back and armed me with this armor and Excalibur. At least, I believe it was Merlin..." Paladin finishes the sentence quietly and half to himself.

Enter... Nightmare! But in a good way.

One of lights in the hallway is burnt out, creating a small pool of shadow beneath. The shadow briefly grows darker, and something long and dark scurries out, keeping close to the floor. It makes for the door of the Ready Lounge.

Approaching the door, the dark figure remembers himself. The humans don't like it when crawls along the ground. He doesn't like to disturb people, so he stands. An elegant and grotesque figure, almost seven feet tall, with long groping arms and a hideous grinning face. His black suit is tailored, his black stetson perfectly blocked.

Mister Scares, he says, flashing an awful smile up at the speaker. The door opens and, with an almost human stride, Mister Scares enters the room.

Mister Scares sees that the man and woman occupying the room are already embroiled in conversation. He doesn't interrupt. He smiles what he hopes is a friendly smile, showing too many crooked and razor-edged teeth.

The voice from the speaker makes her, again, glance toward the door. What can she say? She's still curious about the people here. Seeing the very tall figure stand up, she raises her eyebrows.

"Hello?"

"I have not been back long at all, Nimbus. In fact..." Paladin stops in mid-sentence as Mister Scares walks in. Instinctively, Paladin reaches for his sword and moves between Nimbus and the apparent threat. After a moment though, he realizes that the door let him through when he spoke his name, so somehow this dark creature must be on the side of the heroes.

"Greetings... Mr. Scares is it?" Paladin asks while moving his hand slowly away from the hilt of Excalibur.

Mister Scares glances at their fears, instinct rather than intention guiding his thoughts before he restrains himself.

"Shy woman," he says, his eyes seeming to grow unnaturally large as he looks at her. "Arturius Cyning," he says to the other, mixing Arthur's Latin name with the Old English word for 'king.' "Afraid of attention, afraid of a new world. I am... retired bad dream, Gustav Makesbabiescry." His English is thickly accented, something like Bella Lugosi, something like Vladamir Putin. "I am preferring Gus, though," he says, striding towards them, "and I thank you for making me welcome."

Arthur gets a weird look for the manly attempt to save the damsel from danger. She's not into damseling, so she steps out from behind Arthur again, squinting at Mr. Scares to try to determine if he's still made of shadow, or if he turned into something else.

"Nice to meet you, Gus. I'm Nimbus. Retired, huh? That had to be an interesting job."

Gus smiles at Nimbus. "Not so afraid, and very polite. I am liking." he says as he shakes her hand.

"Yes, was very interesting. No two nights the same. However... I was on bad path, I was not teaching anymore, only scaring. A brave girl, she saved me, and now I am here. Is much happier."

"You are... something of light, yes? Glowing?"
