Humans get what?

What I find interesting is that there's one race that's really good, but it won't become obvious until you've played quite a bit of 4E. I'm not telling which one it is, though. ;)

Elf and Dwarf seem like the strongest contenders. Humans and half-elves are good, but later on you won't be using so many at-will powers anyways. Dragonborn have a great "kill mook" ability but are otherwise not standouts, and tieflings just don't seem that good in general. The ability of a halfling to force rerolls on a crit is very solid, but it's too defensive. Eladrin teleport seems really, really good, but it's the sort of thing that seems awesome at first and later on turns out to only be okay.

Elf - doesn't care as much about difficult terrain, has stats that focus on its core strengths, and has an ability that makes its daily attacks much much less likely to miss, which is huge.

Dwarf - Doesn't get pushed around as much by monster powers (and a lot of powers cause movement), and can heal without wasting a turn to do it.

My money's on elf, mostly because an elf is the most likely to connect with that one key Daily power and save the party's ass.

Since he says it won't become obvious until we've played quite a bit, I'm wondering if what makes this race really good is it's racial feats or feat synergies, rather than it's starting bonuses.

Okay, let's not get TOO revisionist now.
;p heh, you caught me.

I also would really like to know what races is the sleeping giant...

It might be the elf.

dex powers ac, reflex, attack and damage for a ranger, Then wisdom is a key stat for ranger feats. I also wonder if elves get something when their proficiency is overwritten by a class.

*edit*

Fighters get reliable powers. That makes up for the elf ability. I think you nailed it with the dwarf though. Lots o monsters force move, dwarves not so much.

Would like to have a word with you.
Does it bother anyone else that those gnomes always have red caps?
