Hygena's National Walk for Epilepsy

I was not sure where to put this. But since some folks know my wife as Hygena from "Who Wants to be a Superhero, Season 2", and since my wife registered this fund raiser under the Hygena name (and in costume), I figure the Media Lounge is the best place for this.

Melody (Hygena) has a relatively minor seizure disorder. She got it from a very bad case of spinal meningitis when she was a child. Doctor's told her parents she was likely to never pull out of a coma, and if she did she might have brain damage. But she did pull out, and did not have brain damage. However some small scar tissue was left over that caused a relatively infrequent seizure disorder. It's not epilepsy, but she takes the same drugs as people who have epilepsy, and insurance companies treat her as if she has epilepsy, and a cure or better treatment for epilepsy would likely help her.

The issue never came up in the Superhero show because she frankly didn't think it was relevant, and given she was already talking (in the final episode) to Stan about some rather personal issues that did come up in conversation, she just didn't see how it was appropriate.

But since then, she's been focusing on helping out some charities with her minor celebrity (while it lasts). And this charity is very important to her. Epilepsy impacts over 3 million Americans of all ages, and every year another 200,000 Americans develop seizures and epilepsy for the first time. And yet, it's a health issue that goes relatively ignored in the mass media of charitable issues.

Melody would very much appreciate any donations my friends here at EnWorld could make to her "Team Hygena". She hopes to visit Washington DC to walk in the National Walk for Epilepsy (on our dime), and if she could make a contribution with your help it would truly touch her heart. Please help this cause by clicking on the below link and making a donation (of any amount) to her team.

Thanks.
