Wouldn't being top-heavy put too much strain on the wings in flight?

Yeah that's why they have liposuction to take out unnecessary fat from other places. And of course they have to wear minimal clothes! Gotto lighten their weight!

Now those knee-high booties...

I think they put it in other areas.. for buoyancy and flotation purposes.

It's possible, but I suspect that those are actually tremendous muscles. You need tremendous pectoral strength to drive wings like that -- especially with the solid bone mass of a mammal rather than hollow bird bones.

*coughs*

*looks around nervously*

What????

hmmm, what a "mature" behaviour what we see from some of you - but pictures with half-naked/naked womens are "immature" and "dirty" eh?

*laughs*

Well I don't really have problems with the cover. I think the Video game market is guilty of even more near-porn stuff. I just find some of the covers outrageously silly, but if it sells more books and helps another d20 company thrive, I'm for it. Avalanche books are actually quite good quality, once you get past the front cover. :D

I'm not sure who you are referring to because you are being very vague. I'll assume it's me in part because of my joking around about silicone.

Goofing around on a private message board is an order of magnitude less immature than publishing something professionally and selling it for profit. When you publish something, you either put your best foot forward or suffer the consequences.

I never even said it was immature. I said it was trashy, stupid, and later that it was reflects on the kind of attitude that Avalanche has toward it's d20 line. Look at their other product lines. The covers reflect how they perceive their target audience. Other product lines are professional and appeal more to the intellect whereas it seems like they think d20 customers are a lower caliber of consumer more prone toward cheap marketting gimmicks and porn. Whether or not it's intentional, that's the impression I get of Avalanche Press and I don't like to be condescended to.

Anyway, why you gotta flame in the middle of our joking fun? Back to the jokes!

I can't believe thats their Viking cover. I bought Celtic because it was something I was interested in, and it didn't have the provacative covers. I have been waiting for a viking book for D20, and now there is this, which I won't buy because of the cover. Oh well, I think GURPS came out with a viking book recently.

It is just frustrating. We finally get a company that makes historical RPG material, and it has sleazy covers.

And you can say that I am prudish, I am not. I would never want my daughter to see those covers...

I know! There's a very simple reason why you get art like this on the cover of an RPG.

Let's say you're an artist.

You get contacted by a game company to do a cover.

In all likelyhood, you're something of a gamer yourself, meaning you're probably male.

You find out that they have no problem with women in skimpy outfits as subjects for the work.

Therefore, call in the models! :D

Trust me, I'm not a prude. I have no objection for the cover arts that graced the Avalance d20 RPG products. Of course, my adult gaming group do not consist of minors.

As for some people who says that such a product is not something one would lay on the coffee table: do me a favor, don't leave it there.
