I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

I'm still interested in it, but my group tried it and bounced hard. The Initiative mechanics were a real problem for the group, but it was the damage/armor mechanic that caused one of our members to basically rage quit. And the guy who quit is a level-headed guy, so this was a surprise. From what I've seen, armor has changed, but it will be a really tough sell with our group. Which is too bad because it has so much good stuff in it!

I'm also wondering about VTT support since that's how we play.

But I'll pick it up as a way to support the company. And there is a small chance my local group will be moving back to local play (yay!) so it might be fun to play in person.

I never watched the show and I don't feel the game will be particularly relevant to non-fans. But maybe I'll check it out, I do want to give this a chance because I might be prejudiced and that is something to overcome.

Daggerheart isn't based on Critical Role in any way. It is a heroic fantasy RPG with narrative tools built in, buy still closer to D&D than something like Blades in the Dark.

My interest faded fast with Daggerheart. I'm always interested in new RPGs before I know anything about them but as soon as they started revealing things it went down hill fast. The cards was a major turn off (unnecessary components and extra costs) and then you didn't just succeed or fail you did it with fear or hope adding more balls for the GM to juggle.

I still wouldn't be opposed to try it but feel like I probably won't by it myself.

I'm excited about Daggerheart and look forward to playing it, but I have completely lost interest in Draw Steel. I regret backing it, but that's my own fault for believing the hype.

yeah, I know, but I'm just so biased against the crew too with their professional acting & content creator vibe. i know that's wrong, so maybe I'll make the effort.

Im sooooooo very happy I didn't back it and tbh Ive no interest in dagger dark though I wish it as much success as it'll get.

So is this going to be the new CR game system is switching to?

I am sure they will have a DH series but I would be surprised if they gave up on D&D entirely-- unless they stop doing APs in general.

I am looking forward to it - I think it might fit my group greatly. What's up with the non-love for Draw Steel. I haven't followed it closely, but there was a lot of interest in start.

For my part, it has turned out to appear to be way too fiddly and crunchy for my current tastes. 2010 Reynard would have been all over it, though.
