Don't forget to get your own email address for the site. Most hosting give you unlimited email addresses (or close to it). I'd give yourself info@albanygameday.com, newsletter@albanygameday.com, etc. for the site.

Plus, you can give yourself "custom" addresss for each place you sign up (e.g. Amazon_guedo79@albanygameday.com), then if you receive spam to this address, you can know who gave you spam.

I'm assuming you know HTML or xHTML? If you don't, a decent free website GUI is NVU. I've found it run fairly slow on my machine, but others haven't had a bit of trouble.

The gameday site idea seems great! Keep it to its purpose so that it doesn't look like a junk pile, and try your best to keep it fresh and updated, is all I would say.
