I don't want to use my feat!

Come on...it's obviously an academic issue...or maybe it's not.;)

No, no.

I'm only saying that, by the RAW, if you attack with the weapon you are focused with, you can't choose to not benefit from that +1.

Any RAW-based reply that can negate my statement?

There's not RAW based way for a fighter 20 to only use +15 of his BAB either. This is really a stupid question you're asking.

Thanks for the "stupid".;)

BTW, I agree that a fighter can't voluntarily lower his bab too.

What's the problem with that?

HR are made for this kind of issues.

I asked for feedback about a RAW issue: there's no need to be harsh. ;)

Do you have an example of a situation when you would not want to use the bonus? I can't come up with any at all.
Actually, I choose a feat like WF because it's hard to find a good reason to not use its benefit, but you could think to a disguised fighter that wants to mask his real fighting level.

Just remember that he can't lower his bab.

Is he trying to imply that a character could not 'pull his punches'... ?

Maybe the character wants to fake out some NPC or is involved in PVP and does not want to clearly show his/her true abilities.

Hi. I'll be gone in a sec. I just wanted to come in and remind everyone that we're not talking about a computer game here (despite all the claims that D&D becomes more and more like that) and that we don't have a processor, operating system and program enforcing the rules. We have our Dungeon Master, which is a Genuine Human Being (Human Brain Inside). And the players are humans, too.

We don't have to eat anything RAW if we don't want to. Sure, there's no hard rule about pulling your punches (at least with normal attacks. Rules for lowering your caster level do exist), but it should not be hard to come up with anything. Very easy: you just use a lower bonus to appear weaker (or give someone a chance or whatever). More elaborate: You use bluff checks to pass off as a rookie or might miss intentionally even when you hit and so on.

That's what makes roleplaying so great: the rules aren't set in stone.
