I F'in HATE AMAZON!!!!

Well, I've just about given up on the competence of any business connected to D20 business Alisho(or however the hell you spell your name). Between Wizards firing their best writers, Amazon following their business practices, and the drooling, retarded reaction I get at my Local Gaming Store(And I quote: "D20 Modern? What's that?" From the guy who orders all their products; the guy who SHOULD know what new stuff is coming out, and when; I've also gotten this from him "Well how the hell should I know what month Exalted: Lunars is coming out?!") I think it's time to rise up and take back this industry for ourselves!

Ah, language. We must remember that "one day shipping" means that it will arrive on your doorstep one day after it leaves them. That's entirely different from saying it will leave them within 24 hours.

I know ranix65 IRL, and he talks about how we should "take back the gaming industry" all the time. I think he wants it to be controlled by the players(forgetting that no matter how cool you are as one of the masses, once you're in a position of power, you get corrupted by uncoolness; I see it at my job all the time). And knowing him and how he games, he'd probably try to burn it down after he got the gaming industry.

As to the Amazon.com thing, grow up Richard(ranix).

Actually, that's the single biggest problem, IMHO. Most gaming stores are run by...well...gamers. Folks who are more interested in playing the games than selling them, quite honestly. I know that this has been true for almost all of my FLGSs over time...although some have been much better about customer service than others.

That said, amazon's usually treated me well. Quite honestly, if I can get BoVD and d20 Modern for $46, with no shipping cost, then I'm willing to wait a week. I feel your pain, but honestly, this really is a case of expectations being misset as much as Amazon's failure. I'm not going to bother you with the very real concerns of inventory management of a company in Amazon's position...but Amazon's track record overall has been very good. Expecting them to be the subject of an impulse buy just isn't realistic, IMHO.

Side note: WotC's glory days are the gamer equivalent of 'Camelot'. Gamers making big salaries working on games, with the hope of a bright future. For a couple of years there, it looked like WotC had the Midas touch...then reality set in. No one should be suprised that WotC had multiple layoffs...only that they managed to hold off as long as they did before doing so. With a notable exception, I really haven't heard any of the former-wizards employees bemoaning their dismissal. Remember, a lot of them sat over TSR's deathwatch. And of course, many of them are now freelancers, so they still draw a paycheck...but not a consistent one.

In your defense, all three items currently say, "Usually ships within 24 hours" on them. Granted, the term usually leaves Amazon open for variation, but I think it should be within your expectations to look for it to ship on Tuesday and arrive on Wednesday.

Rothgery, all of them were in stock, at least to my knowledge, and regardless, if 1 was out of stock, they could've shipped out the other 2 and emailed me about the fact that they were out of the 3rd product. All siad "usually ship within 24 hours". And I know it didn't ship yet, that's why I got pissed, they were supposed to ship on Tuesday and be here yesterday, that's (again)[WARNING: RANT. This part is not meant to offend, I just need to vent this] WHAT I PAID EXTRA FOR! IF I had wanted the goddamn books next week, I would have chosen free shipping instead of paying all the extra money. But I was expecting for Amazon to actually not be incompetents and ship them when they were supposed to. Silly me. What the hell was I thinking, wanting a company to actually keep good business practices.

I only had one delivery issue with them. I called the help desk from France and not only did they sort the problem, they payed for the shipment. As far as I'm concerned, that's better service than what I get in most shops. I'm a very satisfied Amazon customer. My bet is, if you'd called the help desk, you would have had the products a few days later but free of shipment...
