Try to relax.

If you get so worked up every time you don't get excactly what you paid for, you're in for a whole lot of hating during the rest of your life. That's no good. Instead just take a deep breath, chill out, and order from some other firm.

;)

Why shouldn't he get worked up? $21 is a lot of money, money which could otherwise be spent on another book. You'd think if you're paying that much for shipping, the company should be working hand over foot to try to get it out the door. "Usually ships within 24 hours" shouldn't mean "might ship within 24 hours, unless we feel like screwing with you, in which case it will ship in a week or so."

Take some ritalin, boy

What I don't get is why he comes and whines here, instead of writing to amazon customer service. (orders@amazon.com).

Good grief. Just send off an email. They'll find out what's wrong, ship out your order, and refund your shipping money.

Mistakes happen. CS is there so you can let a company know about mistakes. Once a company knows about a mistake, it can fix the problem and make you happy.

Actually... hey, looks like the mistake was his own. Another person pointed out that the availability was "Usually ships within 24 hours." And the whiner himself said that he clicked the "Don't ship until my entire order is ready" option. That option clearly says that it saves money, but may cause shipping delays.

Nowhere did Amazon say "We absolutely guarantee you'll have this on your door in 24 hours." Like 90% of customer complaints, this one could have been solved by RTFM: reading the manual.

Good grief. This guy cries over game books like it's the end of the world.

PS: If you contact Amazon cs and complain, they'll refund your shipping money. Next time, if you absolutely need something in 24 hours or ohmigawd you'll just die, then GO BUY IT AT A DIRT STORE. Shipping takes time, genius.

I seriously doubt that Amazon singled this guy out and intentionally screwed with him. So, that absurdity removed, what does "Usually ships within 24 hours" mean to you?

Just curious. I mean, to me, that phrase means that the item ships within 24 hours most of the time, but sometimes it doesn't. I was pretty sure I had a handle on this "usually" word, but if you've got a different definition I'd like to learn it.

;) Just a tease, no offense intended. I agree that he should get his $21 back.

I know it can be frustrating waiting for things to ship, especially when you fork over big bucks for the overnight delivery. You have to tell Amazon that you want the units to ship seperately. It is an option when you order. I order books from them regularly and only once did they email me ask if I wanted to split my order and that was because of a 6 week backorder or something similar.

Since you don't talk to a person who can check on inventory when you order, you, as the consumer, have no idead what the actual shipping date will be.

I am spoiled living in the Chicago Area, but I have 10+ gaming stores within an hour drive, and 3 or 4 are darned good stores. I have to pay more than through Amazon, but I can get what I want when I want. You may want to research other game stores in local communities.

I'll second all the "calm down" and "it's not the end of the world" comments...

But I'll also say that my track record with Amazon is horrid. I've almost never got anything even close to when I was supposed to, and yes, even when it says "Usualy ships in 24 hours". For me, that generaly works out to "ships in 3-4 days".

Anymore, Amazon is my LAST resort for anything. I'm sick of the headache.

If you're going to get worked up for $21, send me your account number. I'll pay you that amount just for the sheer amusement of you getting worked up ;)

Seriously, if you don't live in the third world, $21 isn't that big of a deal. If you can't deal with wasting $21, you'll die of a heart when you crash a car or need a dentist or do anything that costs a little more.

As others have mentioned, just go here:

http://www.enworld.rpgshop.com/

Or use the handy "shop" button at the top of this page. Most items are 10% off, some more. Best of all, for your problem with Amazon, shipping is a flat $5.95, no matter how large your order. And they ship quickly. So the discount may not be the best you can find, but the shipping usually makes up for it, and you are supporting EN World.

My Solution.

A polite, but somewhat biting letter to:

Mr. Jeff Wilke
Senior Vice President, Customer Service
Amazon.com
P.O. Box 81226
Seattle, Washington 98108-1226

And then there is always the option to smear them with the truth on investor forums like Vault.com, and really anywhere Amazon is discussed. While ranting about them, be sure to promote their best competitors.
