I finally fixed the paladin!

I'm so excited by this :D

It was so simple and yet until I read a couple of the points in the excerpt thread, I could never quite fit the pieces together in a satisfactory manner. There was always that nagging little element that didn't quite fit.

What was the revelation that solved all the problems that I perceive the paladin to have?

WISDOM!

By eliminating Wisdom from the class altogether and replacing all instances of Wisdom in powers with Constitution and replacing Wisdom with Constitution as part of the build choices, everything suddenly and magically just works!

Praise Allah!

With the following tweaks to the paladin class features, I believe the class is a really nice class and finally an effective defender, whether a Charisma or Strength based build is chosen.

Oh, the names of the class features were also an axe to grind so I'm happy about that change as well :D

I personally feel it's more in keeping with the flavor of the paladin to replace Constitution with Wisdom. :) Perhaps something along the following lines:
Iron Determination
Benefit: You may use your Wisdom instead of your Constitution to determine your hit points and your number of healing surges.
You could make it a paladin feat or give it free to every paladin, depending on how much additional help you think the paladin needs.

Unfortunately you're wrong. This is most likely because you don't know how to play paladins properly. My fun is better than yours.

WOW did you ever miss putting the smiley in to that one..

I think replacing con with wisdom is fun...It does boost the Strength Wisdom build which I like a lot ;-). But without a few more powers at 7th and 9th level at minimum.... sigh

I like the idea of discipline... overlapping the physical realm, it is Wisdom - mind over matter, OR if we wanted to do all CHA all the time builds ... the Charisma - Spirit ignoring the limits of the flesh.

But don't pally's get the heavy shield prof and the plate prof for a higher AC to compensate for lower HP?

I would say possibly the reverse the lower hit points as a penalty to offset the Armor which is archetypal... and since lower hit points are not something one would associate with the archetype... there could be a couple ways to undo it.. take durable / tough.

Adding another way that was sort of mystic specific (bringing wisdom or charisma to bear) would be fun. Currently Paladins would always want the Charisma route due to deficiencies in for the Straladin.

Bah! Firelance knows better than to take me seriously.

And I think everyone is missing the point of this thread. I'm not asking for feedback. It's perfect as it is :)

heh, you ever see the auspicious birth background... rather appropo for paladins ya know.
