Actually- I find it odd they made a few demon lords into gods (especially in FR).

Actually, if you read the section in the book where it talks about worshiping fiends, it never actually refers to them as deities. You're just making a pact (usually for your soul, backed up with frequent sacrifices) and the fiend provides spells drawn from its own power. So the worshiper is in effect a cleric, but doesn't worship a deity.

The monster deities table at the end of the book does include the fiends and what domains, favored weapons, and etc. they grant (which you need to play a cleric of them), as well as a divine rank, but they shouldn't be considered deities.

Huh? How can an entity have a Divine Rank above 0 and not be considered a deity?

Question: What do they need divine ranks for, given that they aren't deities? Or do they all have the same, presumably low (e.g., 0-1), divine rank - so to indicate their status as demon princes (or equivalent)?

Baphomet, Orcus and Pazrael are listed as Lesser Deities, which would give them a divine rank between 6 and 10.

They're just being pansies because if Orcus was ever made a god by D&Dmg rules, people (and I imagine Monte Cook) would be upset. Still I think your version of Orcus will be fine by me Scott. Btw, it IS the 13th when RA3 comes out right?
Er, you do know Monte wrote Modron March and Dead Gods, right? You know, the ones that unequivocably stated Orcus' once and future godhood, and established him as a supreme badass of the planes? I'd hardly peg him for a puritanical Orcus-hatah.
