ARRRGGG!

My computer is infected with Adware.ZestyFind (aka Look2Me.com). I've tried several different removal methods but nothing has worked so far. I AM NOT IN A GOOD MOOD!!!

Does anyone have any experience dealing with this damn thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Grumble, Grumble...

There are two good programs that you might want to try.

The first is AdAware and the second is Spybot Search and Destroy. The are both great programs that search for all sorts of spyware and adware programs and files (like tracking cookies). The best part, both are FREE downloads.

Adios,
Kane

ya, adware sucks...I've got that one on my machine and neither of the two mentioned programs have been able to do a damn thing about it....

Y'know, if I were programming adware or spyware, I'd make sure that the program would set Internet Explorer to treat the sites that have anti-adware software as unavailable. But I'm not that smart, and not that evil.

What Crothian said! :(

I have Spybot - Search and Destroy, but not Adware. All I've read says that no current anti-adware program will remove it. It is listed on Symantec's website as a type of trojan-adware program.

Of course, their removal instructions aren't much help either. I'll post some links as to what I've discovered about it, as well as the programs I have installed, which are making it more bearable.

Cheers!

Look up a certain adware remover program called, cwshredder, it only removes a specific type of adware, but that type has multiple versions, and yours looks like one of them.

EDIT: I've run into this one alot and Spybot and Adaware don't get the newest versions (an most of the rest as well). I dealt with it twice on my home machine, at work and fixing friends computers.

PCWorld Recommendations

This page has many recommendations regarding ad blockers, etc (incluidng Spybot). I'm currently using...

Pop-Up Stopper Free v3.1.1012: Eliminate irritating pop-up windows with this free program.

Pop-up Defender v6.02v: Fight back against pop-up ads and PC snoopers at the same time. (Very good program.)

CWShredder v1.59.1: Eliminate an insidious pest that Spybot and Ad-aware can't stop.

Other programs I've found that are useful. Any search engine should find you these.

HijackThis.exe (BE VERY CAREFUL with this program.)

Other programs I've found that didn't work for me.

Kill2Me.exe (this is designed to kill Look2Me.)

There's another program called spysweeper (IIRC) that is better than either Spybot and Adaware; however, it is a limited, as when your trial is up I believe it no longer works. I can't remember...it's been awhile. Go to download.com and you should be able to find something in the appropriate category.

Good luck!

I tend to stay away from limited trial versions of things. They never work as well as you'd hope. And Spybot is a VERY good program, for being free. Hopefully they'll be able to add functionality against ZestyFind soon.

I also recommend a program called Spyware Blaster.

Cheers!
