I hate cat-people, dog-people, lion-people, etc

Sigh.

There used to be a difference between "furries" and "plushies". Furries liked the artwork. Plushies dressed up and... well, you know.

I'd just like to pass the hat of d02 furrfu.

But I'd like to expand the hate, to encompass all settings that have a bajillion humanoid races that all developed "naturally" on the same world.

I'm working on something to solve this, of course... :)

Sigh.

Furries often times also have anthropomorphic avatars and act in character. Lots of them refer to their hands and feet as 'paws' and such.

That's not so bad, is it?

Back to the original topic of this thread for a moment...

The core game is based on creatures with a humanoid shape. There are only so many variations you can produce on that shape without making references to other critters for comparison.

At no time will you ever see the description of a race summed up as: "You simply cannot imagine what this creature looks like. There are no comparisons possible with any imaginings you might have based on real creatures. It does not have fur like a dog or cat or horse. It does not have eyes that are round or slanted or wide. Its appendages do not radiate from its torso like any other animal you've ever seen."

We need the frame of reference. Known animals are handy that way.

Actually, Theseus was not so nice himself and he stranded Ariadne on the island of Naxus... (even though there is a different version of the mythus in which she was commanded to remain in Naxus by the god Dionysus).

Nah, not Naxus. He sent her all the way to Kourou, French Guyana.
