I hate cat-people, dog-people, lion-people, etc

Well from Oathbound there are asheraks (large skull-headed winged striped humanoids),

Except the asherake in that picture is just wearing a skull mask over his face, that's not his real face. They are humanoid tigers, with wings.

A celestial bull if there ever was one. (Or maybe was it axiomatic instead? Well, whatever.)
I love your retelling, man. I just wanted to point out that if there's one thing Poseidon, and most of the other Greek gods for that matter, would not send, it's an axiomatic whatever. Poseidon's one of the more chaotic gods of a pantheon that's pretty chaotic to begin with.

However, D&D3E elves & dwarves fulfill all 3 points, IMHO, and gnomes, orcs, and halflings manage at least 2 of the 3. So, whatever i may think of unoriginal anthropomorphic-animal races, i'll still take them over what D&d3E gives me.
A fine line between "time honored tradition / staple of fantasy" and "unoriginal and bland", eh?
