I have the PHII...

I like the duskblade. My only concern is that with a quickened truestrike, the "arcane strike" feat from complete warrior, and power attack this class could become very very sick. Of course you have to spend two feats, a couple of spells, and a class ability to do the combo, but who won't?

True, but it wouldn't happen until 9th level, and by then there are several ways to do crazy amounts of damage.

The only feat I found off was Telling Blow, which seems a bit too good.

Could anyone provide me with some more details of the following feats plz?

Arcane Thesis
Does +2 caster level apply to all spells?

Arcane Toughness
How exactly do you expend prepared spell to heal?

Arcane Consumption
Does it work on creatures without Con?

Dampen Spell

Thank you in advance! :)

No, just one spell.

It it an immediate action.

Doesn't say in the description, but I would rule no at my table.

Dampen Spell

Immediate action, and spellcraft to identify the spell. You subtract the level of your spell from the target's DC, so using a 4th level slot to dampen the BBEG's DC 19 spell makes it a DC 15.

The new spells are powerfull, but not out of line and none of them struck me as game breaking. It's just that they are innovated, fill new niches and are versatile. All imho good things. (And I'm a DM, so I will have to deal with them).

Actually, so far I think the spells are kinda weak. I was going through the list to try to find any one I'd actually prepare. Although I like the idea of some of the spells, almost universally, they are a spell level too high for me to consider them worth taking.

Plus, some seem to have no use at all that I can find. Like the spell that lets you teleport someone up to 30 feet away if you touch them and they make a will save. Generally there is no real reason to waste a spell slot teleporting someone 30 feet when using it on an ally. If you do use it, it is in a very rare situation. Against an enemy, it requires a will save and only moves them 30 feet. It's not very useful unless there is somewhere very close nearby where they will be SAFE but out of the way somehow.

I dont know... the utility of teleporting up a tree or to the roof of a building or moving a foe over a ledge or over a pit or pool (Yah! Lava!!!).

their appears to be a clear emphasis in this book of ... I almost want to say 'fixing or improving tactical combat'. For example... many of the options like the fighter alternate class features allow you to sacrifice your extra attacks to hit more accuratly or be harder to hit etc.. extra attacks that in a higher level game may be useless or nearly so short of very lucky dice rolling. It apears their introducing new or better or at least more tools to the players to better facilitate different situations. Utility is often over looked because its circumstantial and weather the circumstances are right or not.

I notice that WotC is breaking from tradition and not providing us with an online Artwork Gallery for the PHBII....

I bet they are simply running behind. Heck, they just recently posted the City of the Spider Queen art gallery!

Well....it seems the lower level one doesn't have the same limitations as the 5th level version. So, it doesn't say you can't teleport them over lava. Interesting. The 5th level version, Dimensional Shuffle says that you must put the target on solid ground.

Also, did anyone else notice that although it APPEARS that Melee Weapon Mastery is just meant to spread your weapon focus and weapon specialization to multiple weapons that it also adds it to the weapon you already have weapon focus and spec in?

So, you have a greatsword with WF, WS, and then Melee Weapon Mastery in the weapon giving you:

+3 to hit/+4 damage

Then a high level fighter could add Greater Weapon Focus and Greater Weapon Spec to have:

+4 to hit/+6 damage

Add in Weapon Supremacy and you have the makings of a pretty nasty fighter.
