I have the PHII...

Apparently, some people have a very different definition of "crappy" than I do. I think the duskblade's spell list is all but perfect for a melee/casting-combination caster.

You are looking in the wrong portion of the book. If you are looking in the spells section it ONLY lists the NEW spells from this book that they get.

If you look at the list right after the CLASS at the beginning of the book, you'll see their whole list, which includes quite a few sor/wiz spells.

Their list doesn't have MM though, it mostly relies on spells to make their weapons better, mobility spells, and spells which require attack rolls. Of course, they do get Chain Lightning.

*edit* D'oh, I stand, er, sit corrected. Nothing to see here, move along. :D

Perhaps I should have done more than a literal responce. Crappy being relative. There are, however, no 0 level spells listed, even though a beginning Duskblade starts with those slots. Missing, though, are many spells from the PHB that would fit fine, such as Magic Weapon. The Duskblade doesn't get any of the PHB standards, unless I missed something.

You did miss something.

The duskblade spell list in the spell chapter only lists their new spells.

Their complete spell list is on page 24, in the class description.

To be fair, a lot of people missed it--myself included, on the first read-through. It's not called out all that well...

What are the alternate class abilities? I'm particularly interested in the rogues. Thanks

The rogue one isn't very good, IMHO. It allows you to sacrifice your sneak attack on an attack to give the target -2 to their AC for 1 round. It is in place of Uncanny Dodge.

So, to nitpic: the information on page 19 is incorrect. Do we have the first case of ERRATA? :)

(page 19 says "Spells: You cast arcane spells, which are drawn from the duskblade spell list on page 98")
